They're kiosks that you rent movies/video games from for like $1 a day ($2 a day for video games). Redbox pretty much replaced Blockbuster.
From what I can gather, it's a machine which vends movie rentals.

That's a pretty neat idea, so does it have all the movies stored on like a HD, then when someone selects what they want it burns it and slaps a sticker on or are they just pre-burned then put inside them.

because of there size and can only carry so much

Unfortunately no. It only has the most recent movies/video games (and not all of them I might add) and then get updated/replaced every X amount of time. It's good to rent newer released games for a very small price.
Just burning on spot would be better, really doesn't take that long, awesome none the less.
