Just some links I found on building your own guitar pickups. If you've got the tools, it's apparently quite easy, simple, and yields good sounding results. http://galileo.spaceports.com/~fishbake/fpickup/pickup.htm (you can find a good comparison in that link) http://galileo.spaceports.com/~fishbake/buck/humbuck.htm http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-A-Guitar-Pickup/ And here's some winding rigs people have made. (you could always hand wind them, but that would take quite a long time as most pickups have around 6000 winds xD) looks like a fun project, I hope to make one this weekend. Even though the thing could look like some ghetto rig, if anybody makes cracks about them, you can always just say "Well, I made mine, unlike you, dicknose." At any rate, It'll be fun to experiment with different shapes, wire sizes, and coil thickness so I can get some different sounds.
How many guitars have you made
I've made 3. Gonna be four... when I get my first paycheck :/
Haha, I'll stick with my EMGs thanks you, cool idea though
I should try this.
It's always worth a try. If you already have some fairly basic tools (dremel, drill, hand saw, file) you won't be expending much (if any) money on making them.
Damnit! I read the title as "Make your own guitar picks" Cool thread though
I'm going out today to buy a but load of tiny rare earth magnets. I'll probably start a new thread to track my work progress with pictures.
