The Mysterious Man who Saved me from getting a Ticket.

Hello facepunch, due to the recent negativity around the forums (or from what I've seen, at least) I decided to lighten the mood and share a completely true story about a very nice man that saved me a lot of money and a ticket.
I recently took a trip to Washington with my girlfriend. Well, I'm from California, and as you Californian's know, speed limits don't mean anything to us. Well, they do mean a lot to the people and officers of Washington, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Anyways, I'm not used to much of this kind of driving being from Socal, but there were tall trees on both sides of the road, and it was about 7 o'clock at night. We were driving along and, not having much to compare my speed to, I went faster and faster without really noticing it. This happens in California all the time, but everyone drives over the speed limit here.
So, I did eventually glance down at the speedometer. I was going 65 in a 40mph zone, and I thought to myself, "I should slow down, but there's no cops and it's no big deal."
Well, just as I was thinking this, an oncoming car flashed his highbeams at me. I was thinking for a moment and decided to slow down to about 45. I watched my mirror and, sure enough, about a 1/4 mile or so later, there was a cop laying in wait, where you could only see him if you were oncoming.
This is for you, kind, kind driver. Thank you for saving me money and a mark on my record.
Rate this thread hearts. Not for me, but for this kind man.
So he flashed his highbeams at you and you took that as a signal to slow down?
You have better interpretation than me when it comes to these things, I would've sped up. Rated heart.
Maybe his lights were wonky :|
I hope you learned your lesson OP. That cop could have given you a world of hurt for your corrupt criminal deeds.
Maybe you had your highbeams on?
Maybe you had your highbeams on?
Nah in some areas people flash there high beams on to signal that a cop is ahead, I've seen it a few times
Maybe you had your highbeams on?
I did not.

Yeah, He flashed them a few times, as if warning me of something. I was right! :D
I was thinking along the lines of "Better safe than sorry."
Did you have the Mysterious Stranger perk equipped? That's the only explanation I can think of.
Lucky...
I want that kind of person around me at all times. :downs:
That's a common thing were I live to do

:unsmith:
He was flashing his highbeams because there was a killer in the backseat, and he was trying to warn you. You owe him more than you think.
I always do that and think I might avoided someone a ticket.

Uh.
In america, a double flash of the headlights\high beams usually means "I am letting you turn", or "There is a cop ahead watch out!"
He was probably warning you that there was somebody holding him hostage in his car and that you should alert the cop that he just passed.
This mysterious man died to save you from a ticket.
EDIT: You bastards, the other guy said the murderer was in the back of the OP's car. I don't deserve the clocks :crying:
I will always make sure to slow down when someone flashes their highbeams at me.
After making sure my own high beams are dimmed of course.

I think that's the case in many countries. Certainly is in Australia.
Everyone does it in Australia
It's commonplace here in Kansas. It has saved me a few times and I hoped I've saved a few people as well.
What a lovely story.
Never seen it happen here in California. OP is right though; speed limits are more like suggestions to us.
yeah it's commonplace in australia too, people with flash their lights at you in forewarning for speed cameras, cops, breath testing etc

maybe he just had good karma.
imagine what would have happened if he had bloody mess....
In Australia all the truckies have signals like this.
I went on a road rampage, ran down 20 pedestrians (150 points)
rate me hearts
how do you get 150 points from running over 20 people?
I do this to people all the time, it's a bitch when they flash you back though.
You're pretty lucky he didn't see your plates, OP. Most Washingtonians hate Californians.

Cause ya'll are slugs on the freeways.

Nah, buddy, I'm a fellow Californian.
Oregonians and Washingtonians don't like us because we buy property there and raise the value, making it harder for them to afford houses. :smug:
