Juke or footwork is a style of music originating from Chicago that is known for it's use of fast tempo around 160 BPM, syncopated kicks and snares, and heavy use of 808 samples. The term footwork comes from the style of dance that came hand in hand with juke, which often took place in battles with DJs playing music during them.

Recently, Juke had started to expand its influence to producers outside of Chicago; with labels like Planet Mu and Hyperdub giving the genre some attention.
