I bought it and honestly don't regret it at all, it's exactly what i was expecting.
i dont have hardline but i have seen a few of this guys reviews and i always feel like he either demonstrates a lack of understanding or is not really very objective with a lot of his bad points on games. to blast a game and say it outright isnt worth buying for anyone just because you dont like the style of gameplay even though a lot of people are into it is kinda stupid imo. for example he has a massive hate boner for early access/dlc and smashes medieval engineers calling it a lazy crash grab despite it having 90% positive ratings on steam and has been getting consistent weekly updates. yeah i liked BF1942, BF2 and BC more than i do the new games, but i wouldnt tell anyone that the newer games are not worth buying just because of my rose tinted glasses and jaded opinions on what kinds of games are popular nowadays. also doesn't hardline have some big maps? the few videos i have seen on it seem to have been in bigger ones.

Good to know it's the same crap. When I played the beta, it was just like CoD. It was fun for a few rounds but it quickly became boring. How people spend $120 on a game is beyond me every year that's the same thing as last year.
i like this guys reviews, but goddamnit is he so opinionated about EVERYTHING its painful everything is either "FUCKING SHITE" or "FUN AS FUCK JUST LIKE TRIBES"
Hardline doesn't look shit, it just doesn't look unique enough to warrant my purchase. It seems like a slightly smaller scale BF4 with cops and robbers instead of America and Russians or wherever the fuck the nameless soldiers came from. It does look fun, but I just can't justify the cash at the moment.
i like this guys reviews, but goddamnit is he so opinionated about EVERYTHING its painful
Don't disagree, Mack is probably the most opinionated gaming youtuber I've ever seen. But the blunt and opinionated character of him is what makes his reviews stand out and enjoyable to me. This guy literally tells his audience the game is "shit" in the first 50 seconds of the video, sometimes I more in the mood for that then watching TotalBiscuit move FOV sliders around for the first 15 minutes. Not to bash TB, I watch and enjoy his reviews as well.
What a garbage, rambling review. The campaign isn't anything amazing but it is noteworthy in that it atleast tries something stylistically different from the last few years of modern combat B-grade Tom Clancy rehashes but when he starts talking about the multiplayer he completely loses me. I don't want to be a dick and just call him bad at the game but when your only complaints are about people running around and outshooting you there comes a point where you have to say maybe it's just not your kind of game. The salt becomes real near the end where simply saying the game isn't worth a buy isn't enough; he has to throw people who might actually have fun with the game under the bus. There is a decent argument to be made that maybe after Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Premium for both of them, shelling out $60 for Hardline is a tough call but personally I'm having a blast with it. The gameplay changes are small but noticeable and as far as technical concerns go it is easily the best-launched Battlefield title in years. I don't think I will jump on premium as eagerly as I did with Battlefield 4 but I'm not even close to regretting my $50 pre-order. This dude used to make the absolute worst Mechwarrior Online videos and had a bad reputation on the forums for being a crybaby. I've seen two of these Worth a Buy "reviews" and both of them were pretty terrible.
It looks good and the beta was fun, but as someone who spent $120 on BF4 and has taken a year and a half to get his money's worth, I think I'll be waiting for the inevitable summer sale.
I get his point. The review was fair and called out the decline of the "Battlefield" experience. Enjoyed it.
I get his point. The review was fair and called out the decline of the "Battlefield" experience. Enjoyed it.
I'm having more fun with Hardline than Battlefield 4 and the game makes several objectively better design additions and changes so I'd hardly call it a decline. [editline]21st March 2015[/editline] It's also the first Battlefield game to launch without massive crippling technical flaws so props to Visceral.
is it worth $60.?
I get his point. The review was fair and called out the decline of the "Battlefield" experience. Enjoyed it.
the reason i said it wasnt objective at all is because theres a big difference in saying something like 'this game is a pile of shit because its not like bf1942' and 'if you love the battles like they were in 1942 you wont like this'. hes entitled to his opinion ofc but his videos are pretty much just his own opinions rather than a more fair objective review. this is kinda obvious when he basically says at the end that anyone who likes/buys the game is an idiot/sheep that dont know any better. hes like that friend that you can never trust on an opinion on games because they will tell you outright that x game is absolutely terrible when infact a lot of people play and enjoy it and it might just be your kind of game.
For the price of £60... No. Extremely high for a game these days.
For the price of £60... No. Extremely high for a game these days.
i actually just grabbed the basic one through origin for £25 with a vpn, few key sites are selling in the £30 range.
I bought it and honestly don't regret it at all, it's exactly what i was expecting.
I did this also, but I got way more than I was expecting. I used to play the conquest mode in the older BF games but the new ones in this one are really fun. I love blood money it's a hilarious game mode.
Found the beta really boring when I played it. It was like random slaughter of CoD in a map that's way too big.
Found the beta really boring when I played it. It was like random slaughter of CoD in a map that's way too big.
I enjoyed the beta a lot more than playing BF4. Driving around felt a lot more fun, and pleasurable and I was a lot better at actually playing the game than my current skill in BF4. I want to play the game while it's new, and actually play the DLC maps while they're popular, but the pricing model is fucked up, so I can't really see myself supporting it Like bf4's premium is still $60 two years on, and is the same price as BFH's premium kit
Alright well I bought the game and took it for a spin and I've come to the conclusion it's total fucking dogshit. I'd rather boil diarrhea and pour it directly into my eyeballs for entertainment then ever touch that piece of shit again. There's NO content and the hit registry is fucking atrocious, I shot a motherfucker with my entire magazine, got hit markers for every single bullet, his player model twisted and turned around like a fish having a seizure from me just unloading into him and he shoots me once, I die, I find out he still has 100% fucking HP. Are you serious dude? I even had like 20 ping. I'd pay $15 dollars tops for Hardline, it DOES NOT DESERVE at $60 price tag. The game wears off real fuckin quick and imo the developers should consider suck-starting a shotgun for thinking releasing this game was okay with such PITIFUL amount of content and horrible registry. I booted it up, played about 10 rounds, uninstalled and got a refund. Fuck hardline, it's garbage. I can't believe I gave Hardline benefit of the doubt because Battlefield 4 was a real fucking shit show, should have been an indicator of what was waiting for me.
havent seen this much childish rage in a good few hours
Oh sorry, am I supposed to be exhilarated that I just blew my time and money on what essentially turned out to be possibly the shittiest game of 2015? :^)

It's more expensive than COD.
You know what, I went into Hardline utterly wanting to hate it's guts. I can't stand what EA have done with the Battlefield series (the 'classics' being some of my all time favorites). But I played the beta and... Begrudgingly enjoyed it. So I caved in and bought the full game and I have to say, I do not regret it in the slightest. I find that the knack is to forget that the game has 'Battlefield' in the title. Essentially it's a 'cheap' bit of fun, yes it's nothing spectacular but the long and short of it all is that the game can be incredibly fun. Hotwire for example is so basic, but so enjoyable all the same. I wanted to hate this game so badly... But I can't, I'm a bad person.

If every bullet in a magazine gave hitmarkers for any gun it would have been a kill. Markers only pop up when the server registers the hit. If it was bad detection then you wouldn't get markers, just the model seizing. What probably happened was you were using a the MP5k which has dogshit range and landed 4 of the 5 or 6 shots you need to secure the kill and instead of respawning came to FP to whine about that one time you died in an FPS. If you get hitmarkers your bullets are doing damage.

And it happened multiple times, on multiple servers.
nah dont worry lol he did extensive research as to why the game is "a steaming pile of dog shit diarrhea in his eyeballs mess" and that the developers should consider killing themselves he played "maybe" 10 rounds
Cool argument but no. I was using the default rifle for the medic and I was within like 10 feet of the guy. I don't know what else to tell you other than that's how the game works: if you get hitmarkers, the hit detection is working. You won't get markers if your bullets aren't registering.
