So today i offically started working for a UPS store that is close by my house. I only work about 4-5 hours a day with every single sunday off. I get there about 9-9:30AM. This job i have to say is literally amazing. All day i help people either send items of different sizes and weight to where ever the hell they want to. Today we were sending a 50inch LCD tv to NY so I had to process the package measure the dimensions of the box and weigh it and of course make sure it was going to the correct place.
Back on track I also help sell the stores packing supplies, tubes, tape, glue, sticky notes.....Pretty much anything that does with shipping.
We do have a list of items we can't send which i find funny. We aren't allowed to ship items that are worth more then 49,999.99 OR human remains. Can't send illegal drugs, weapons, or alcohol.
it's over all a great place to work I recieve so many packages that end up all over the US. So makes me feel pretty cool to know that i made sure that package go to someone safely.
Stop literally throwing my packages at the door please, douchebags. Thanks

Agreed, you walked all the way out to my door step, so please ring my door bell so i know you dropped off a package.
What pisses me off is when delivery people don't even ring the bell they just give you the note saying to pick it up.
Yeah the problems with them just leaving it at the door has to do with the people/company sending you the package. It's an extra 4$ for a signature to ensure you receive the package. So don't blame UPS blame your family member/friend/co-worker/company for not taking the extra time to say yes charge me 4 more dollars.
This is now a UPS hate thread.
I am reminded of my work experience in deliveries for a shop. Most of the stuff was normal, but there was an incredible about of French people buying the same French toy and there was a delivery (Of a large amount of cap guns) to an address less than a mile away.
The amount of times I stabbed myself on parcel tape teary things, stanley knives and scissors was incredible.
UPS all the way. FedEx took a month longer then it should have, stopping infront of my house, and leaving without dropping the package. I even made a sign for him, because he needed to go around back to drop it off, and he still didn't get it. Never had problems with UPS.
UPS is the shit compared to literally any other delivery service. I'm okay with them not ringing my doorbell if they get me my package 2 days faster.
UPS and FedEx have some funky delivery times where I live, I prefer FedEx as they get to my door at 9am oppose to UPS getting there at 7pm. I'm guessing location of warehouses plays a factor?
My postman signs my parcels for me, then pushes them through the cat flap or leaves them in the paper bin. I never asked him to, he just does.
People are in here ripping on delivery guys. They're not all bad. My dad delivers for UPS and he delivers and collects 75-80 packages a day. If he is off ill two people haver to separately cover him because he works so hard delivering things. Never had one complaint about him.
ITT: Stereotype of Delivery men :smith:
last time I had something shipped by UPS it was stuck in Jackson, MS for a month

Do you guys also really search for these things or is that done elsewhere?
So when my mail gets lost, can I blame you OP?

Not really I love you.
But really, stop losing my mail.
Didn't know there was UPS fanboys.
I hate the UPS. They always throw my shit on the ground. They dont care if its a glass either.
My postman is a legend, such a nice guy.
my laptop arrived within 3 days of ordering, it arrived.
It was scheduled to arrive about a week after it did. I was rather impressed. Especially since it stopped off at around 3 different countries :D
So, you delivered anything... embarassing yet?
Not yet but today being my first day i was moving a box and noticed the bottom was wet so something inside busted but my manager just called the people and they fixed it.
And location does kinda determine when something will make it. We have what's called EOD or Estimated time of delievery. If we ship something in state no matter how big or small it always arrives next day.

Both, we ask and sometimes people don't have the common sense to lie so we have to tell them no.

This has to be your driver not UPS in general. When ever i order shit and UPS is the carrier they get the stuff to me fast and effective. Must be location. haven't met any FedEx or UPS driver in Colorado that acted like a douchebag.
My last two experiences of Delivery men entailed both of them leaving a combined total of £1900 worth of kit outside my front door, one of which was in the rain
I feel entitled to have a beef

I feel entitled to have a beef
Well then sir/ma'am you have all the right in the world to have your "beef" with us. I'm just assuring you that, crap like that happens maybe .3% of the time. It really does have to do with the person who does the delivering. IF i ever became a driver i would make sure people got their items because i personally know how cool UPS is so i'd return the favor and make someone's day good.
I hope you can forgive them of this trangression and trust them since i'm working their.

Brb, ordering some realistic prosthetic limbs and innards from America to see if it can fool them.

That's because he's the pro kind.
I'd give/leave him a tip the next time I'd get a package if I were you, just to show him that you appreciate that little extra.

I get things from Fedex at 11 in the morning and UPS at 5 pm. I would assume it's the warehouse
Anyway, it seems like a fun job
I got fired from UPS for having a day off on my probation period. i had piles.
I know this is the UPS hate thread and all, but I'm shipped and received more shit than I can ever count in my life and never had any problem with UPS. Airsoft guns, guitars, amps, car parts, computer stuff, everything always arrives roughly when expected and gets to where it's going.

If your xbox has broken you know this pain.
My UPS delivery guy in Florida was awesome. He as an older guy, always made sure the package was delivered and signed for, and the first time he delivered something, he asked where an alternative place for him to drop it off ways. It didn't matter how far, as long as it was in the county.
My UPS guy is great. Saying "Thanks" and "Have a nice day!" Can go a long way.

Also he once helped me get a pair of shoes off of my roof.
