Hey everyone. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the community discussion topic - I hope I got it right. Me and Foxtrot have been trying to get custom animations into Fallout 3 for the last few weeks Using 3ds Max 09,10, but have had no luck - and we think in the end we're going to have to use Blender. The problem is none of us have experience in Blender Character Animation. And we were hoping there would be someone on these forums willing to help. If you're interested and want to know what it is all for, you can view this video on my channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAYiRCqsoMI Thanks a lot :)
I used to use Blender. One of the main problems is most of the coding (I don't really remember the specific name, the Maya equivalent to Python) is in another language (namely French.) Maybe I'm an idiot, but sometimes I thought the interface was outright confusing compared to other programs. I don't mean to be a downer, but both 3DS Max and Maya are in a whole nother league. If you're positive it won't work for 3DS Max, at least give Maya a try.
I like putting bananas and milk and sugar in a blender. Delicious banana milkshakes. Try it sometime, its amazing. [editline]10:53PM[/editline] Oh that blender.
I am a Blender user. I love Blender. Here is some stuff I made with Blender. How long did it take?
3Ds Max seems better to me but I haven't used either long enough.
How long did it take?
Part of a day.
3Ds Max seems better to me but I haven't used either long enough.
Well, blender is free. Of course it's not going to be as great as an expensive program.
Well, blender is free. Of course it's not going to be as great as an expensive program.
True dat. But it's getting better. And have you seen Big Buck Bunny or Elephant's Dream? Both are in HD, btw.
No, what's that?
See edited post. Two short movies made in blender. Elephant's dream makes absolutely no sense but has a cool atmosphere, and Big Buck Bunny is the more recent one.
Wow, that's pretty impressive. What kind of budget were they on? I'm sure if they had a bigger team and more funding they could be on the dreamworks/pixar level.

Both were open source projects, and the blendfiles of the entire movies are available for download.
I've tried blender. It has a steeper learning cliff than Eve Online.
Yep, got mine right here- Wait...
I've tried blender. It has a steeper learning cliff than Eve Online.
I wonder why everyone says that; I've got every hotkey memorized. In 2.5, though, they've tryed to create a more intuitive interface and lessen the steepness of the learning curve.

That's amazing!
Holy shit OP! Are you the Drakortha from the endorphin forums? I think I remember you... And oh my god that Bug Buck Bunny one is amazing :monocle:.
Hellz Yeah Bender's the best one!
My previous experiences with Blender were difficult to say the least. Would love to give it another shot some day.
