I'm really not a fan of the pixel-art-on-3d aesthetic, and the shitload of bloom/lighting/effects heaped on top of it isn't helping.

The fact the team that did bravely default worked on this makes me interested.
Reminds me of when you put overkill shader mods into Minecraft. I personally like it.
The fact the team that did bravely default worked on this makes me interested.
That too
I like the pixel art on 3D models but I don't really like the use of 2D sprites for the characters. They could probably tone it down with the shader effects too.
Not sure if I like how the enemies are more detailed in fights. It's definitely fun though, the boost system is fun.
The demo pretty much sold me on this game. It's a lot of fun.
I've never played a straight up JPRG of this sort in my entire life and I had a blast
the lighting seems way too dark at points
Not sure if I like how the enemies are more detailed in fights.
Most likely an intentional callback to the old 16-bit Final Fantasy games where enemy sprites were always more detailed than player characters. Takes me back to the Golden Sun days - I really wanna play this, but I don't have a Switch :frown:
the lighting seems way too dark at points
Basically my biggest complaint, even on bright daylight locations the shadows are massive, there's a weird "shadow fog" all around you and it looks like if you were inside a dark cave half the time. Plus with all the effects the game turns into "fireworks at night" simulator The 3D + Sprites mix is great, it's just how they're managing the lighting that puts me off.
Looks like a mix of Ragnarok Online with Final Fantasy
