I need help finding a song that was a hit before my mother was born

I heard about a song that was a hit before my mother was born in 1963, and I'm interested to see if it's good or not. My aunt told me about it but refused to tell me what the name was, her response being "Your mother should know". So I ask my mom and she refuses to tell me for some reason. Apparently it was really catchy and everyone got up to dance to it. Apparently it was rock, or psychedelic, or country.

That is the most detailed thing I have ever read. I am now packed with information on how to even search for this song.

Haha I forgot about that song. Good job.
I'm torn between praising this riddle or hit you with a brick for trying to hard to cover the blalant references to the song to the point of making up a crap backstory.

This is one riddle that even Einstein wouldn't be able to solve.
Rock around the clock
We've found the song:ms:
Everyone who didn't get it as soon as they read the title is a disgrace.
I saw the title and got excited to reply with a witty comment " your mother should know" but it was already solved D:
Well done OP :golfclap:
I always admire these threads and can't wait for the next one.
I love your threads, Sgt. Revolver.
