• Husk - Hide & seek in the dark except you die (pre-alpha)

[b]What is Husk?[/b] Husk was a game concept I started developing about a year ago, it's until now I have finally been able to pick it up and start getting some development done. [b]How is Husk played?[/b] Husk is a multiplayer first person "horror" game, playing off the old rules Hide & Seek and typical Cat & Mouse style gameplay. One player is "It" in this case the Stalker, the Stalker's objective is to hunt down and kill every Husk. Husks are al the other players, through out rounds on the game they are helpless and can only run away from the Stalker. Players play on a dark unlit map, players can turn on lights in other rooms however they can only have 3 rooms lit at a time. The Stalker can't go into a lit room or he will start to take damage. The Husk's objective is to kill the Stalker by luring him into lit rooms. The Stalker can shut off the entire maps power by using a fuse box. Husks can turn the power back on by using another Fusebox. It sounds like quite a neat idea, but potentially very repetitive and it sounds somewhat flawed. For example, the Husk's can only have three rooms lit but what's to stop people from just spamming light switches so it can't be turned off or what if you turn on a light and someone instantly turns it off in another room. It [I]could[/I] work if the team was all working together in harmony, but I don't really see that happening. Don't get me wrong, it would probably be quite fun, but this gamemode alone doesn't really warrant a game. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] Don't get me wrong again, it's great that you're working on this and I know how hard it is to get a project like this off the ground, but I'd personally suggest an overly ambitious target that would still be playable in early stages. That way, you could still play and enjoy the work you've put in but also work towards something greater. Your current ambition is somewhat limited.
We've been pretty aware of everything you said, most of our changes haven't been added to the blogs original concept document. Plus thinking of new gamemodes has certainly been a challenge. I've been trying to come up with new ideas but it's proven to be quite difficult any gamemode suggestions are definitely appreciated.
I love the idea.

Are the Husks the black ones or the white ones? I would think the black ones would make it easier to blend in to the dark, unless you're talking about pitch-blackness.

Very unique and interesting idea, I am looking forward to see where this will go. How much are you hoping to sell it for? I am probably going to buy it if it turns out good (I hope it does). Also, with the announcement of Steam Greenlight, you may have a chance of getting this on the steam which i'm sure would work out very well for you. Keep up the good work!

It should be darker and the hiders should be black, not white.

I like the idea, though it seems more like a Fretta style game-mode IMO.

I've said it before the game is sticking to black and white colour is not going to be introduced

Seems like it needs a simplistic look to it. Kind of like a comic. Nice work anyway though, and i hope you get a playable version out soon!
