• A 6th ship arrives in the Mediterranean with hundreds of Marines onboard
(Reuters) - A sixth U.S. warship is now operating in the eastern Mediterranean, near five U.S. destroyers armed with cruise missiles that could soon be directed against Syria as part of a "limited, precise" strike, defense officials said late on Friday. They stressed that the USS San Antonio, an amphibious ship with several hundred U.S. Marines on board, was in the region for a different reason and there were no plans to put Marines on the ground as part of any military action against Syria. One of the officials said the San Antonio's passage into the Mediterranean was long-planned, but officials thought it prudent to keep the ship in the eastern Mediterranean near the destroyers given the current situation.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/08/31/us-syria-crisis-ships-idUSBRE97U01Z20130831
"Remember: No boots on the ground!"
thousands of US troops just handstand into Syria
good. I for one don't care if we use this tactic. Our people don't die, and we rape the shit out of the Syrian government.
"Remember: No boots on the ground!"
Crocs report the Pentagon purchasing over 500,000 of their products in the recent week.
"Remember: No boots on the ground!"
Just weeks of continuous bombardment.
thousands of US troops just handstand into Syria
I hear they'll just wear trainers instead.
good. I for one don't care if we use this tactic. Our people don't die, and we rape the shit out of the Syrian government.
Except. The Syrians have a 'formidable' military, and WE WILL take casualties
good. I for one don't care if we use this tactic. Our people don't die, and we rape the shit out of the Syrian government.
Cool, have fun reading about the thousands of marines that die going up against a real conventional military.
Cool, have fun reading about the thousands of marines that die going up against a real conventional military.
I'm all for making fun of the Corp, but are you saying that marines aren't real military?
There will never be a land invasion.
I'm all for making fun of the Corp, but are you saying that marines aren't real military?
No, he's contrasting the Syrians to insurgents. Which is odd, considering Iraq had more of a military than Syria does, and we steamrolled them even without a friendly insurgency having already bled them dry.
Cool, have fun reading about the thousands that die going up Marines.
Fixed
good. I for one don't care if we use this tactic. Our people don't die, and we rape the shit out of the Syrian government.
I too wish for bloodshed and the loss of Marines. Three of which could be my best mate's brothers. You're a disgusting warmonger. People like you are the reason we're in a perpetual state of war.
I'm all for making fun of the Corp, but are you saying that marines aren't real military?
If they invade Syria a lot of people will start dying, you're not gonna be fighting fucking shepherds with 20 year old rifles and some ANFO, you're talking an organised military that isn't averse to levelling cities with artillery to hit their targets.
Cool, have fun reading about the thousands of marines that die going up against a real conventional military.
As someone mentioned before, Iraq was considered to have one of te strongest military's in the region at the time of the invasion. The casualty rate was horribly one sided.
good. I for one don't care if we use this tactic. Our people don't die, and we rape the shit out of the Syrian government.
I bet you're anticipating to wake up and watch Marines landing in Syria.
Yall are overreacting. This is sensationalist news. The Navy does this shit all the time it's called a "MEU" Marine Expeditionary Unit. They literally do this multiple times throughout the year everywhere in tge world. They weren't deployed because of Syria they just so happened to be on a MEU in the area.
Got a friend who is on one of these battleships who sent me an email hinting at heading to syria. currently he is stationed in the pacific. so sounds like more than just a random ship visiting the Mediterranean.
Not sounding weird or something but I think he should be a little hush hush about it. I am guessing, idk.
thousands of US troops just handstand into Syria
One does not simply handstand into Syria
Got a friend who is on one of these battleships who sent me an email hinting at heading to syria. currently he is stationed in the pacific. so sounds like more than just a random ship visiting the Mediterranean.
Your friend probably shouldn't be emailing that around. Also, the US Navy will already have some sort of plan for hitting Syria in place. It's probably just sent out a warning order to its ships to get ready.
Shock and awe? Or will they use it?
Got a friend who is on one of these battleships who sent me an email hinting at heading to syria. currently he is stationed in the pacific. so sounds like more than just a random ship visiting the Mediterranean.
Loose lips sink ships.

Despite 911BUFF being mostly bollocks, they are saying that CBS is saying that the ship is there in case there are "unintended consequences" from a a strike. I assume they are there to rush in and rescue Israel if Syria takes it out on them.

It's the equivalent of fighting a miniature Russian military, because they're basically just as well-equipped.

The Russian army comparison is a poor one considering they themselves still field a large number of outdated equipment.
