Residents of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, are stockpiling food and water as Islamist militants move closer.
Fighting between ISIS and the security forces supported by Shia militias has raged around the city of Baquba, only 60km (35 miles) away from the capital.
Correspondents say that the capital is tense with the insurgents closing in from the north and from the west.
Iraqi forces have been engaged in heavy clashes with the rebels who have seized several key cities in the past week.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron will today hold talks with his senior security advisers to discuss the crisis, warning that ISIS represented "a real threat to our country".
We need to hurry up and figure out what the fuck we're gonna do before it is too late.
Seems like everyday they're making massive gains in power.

When was the last time we took a position before it was too late?
i wanna send food
is there a way to send anything?

You can tape it to the bombs that we'll probably be dropping there any day now.
So now Cameron sees ISIS as a national security threat? What about when the same group was executing children in Syria and recruiting British nationals to further their cause? I really can't stand this two faced attitude that western leaders are taking to the crisis in the Middle East.
NATO needs to intervene before it's too late, this is something that can and will go quickly out of control if it isn't dealt with now
They're going to have trouble taking Baghdad, there are a lot more armed forces there then the previous places. It's going to be a bloody battle. Hopefully they don't go in there.

We have to dismantle ISIS
It's more of a threat to western countries than Hussein ever was.

If someone is going to intervene it will have to be someone that can actually make a difference.

NATO can do nothing, unless ISIS attacks NATO member country.

Didn't NATO go into Afghanistan, though?
Didn't NATO go into Afghanistan, though?
Afghanistan was protecting the leader of a group that attacked a NATO member country.
Im just curious after hearing somthing about it on TV, but is it true they want to reform the umayyad Caliphate?
NATO have to respond if one of their members is attacked, but that's not the only time they can act. They've done non-retaliatory operations in the former Yugoslavia, off Somalia and in Libya.
Im just curious after hearing somthing about it on TV, but is it true they want to reform the umayyad Caliphate?
I dunno about Umayyad, but they want to form an Islamic oriented breakaway country; an "Islamic Caliphate".
I think intervention is a bad idea.
Fuck that, surround the fucking place with drones. Bomb the shit out of these monsters before they even get close

Is there anything left of the Umayyad dynasty?

I dunno you tell me, it was 1300 years ago.
Is there anything left of the Umayyad dynasty?
San Marino has been around longer
Can we at least just give the Iraqis some fucking air support? After the first few cities it was made pretty damn clear that the security forces can't do this alone.
Afghanistan was protecting the leader of a group that attacked a NATO member country.
I was under the impression that NATO only worked when a country attacked or threatens one of its member states, not when one harbors a man in its territory.
NATO have to respond if one of their members is attacked
A high ranking official was once asked what this actually means.
He said that a response under the nato treaty can range from full blown nuclear retaliation to sending a letter saying"sorry we can't do much"

On the videos I've seen members of Isis have openly exposed their intention to kill shias. It's an ethnic cleansing waiting to happen.
I wonder if ISIS has used some of that money they "acquired" in Mosul to purchase some decent anti-aircraft weapons, something they'll surely need in the near future.

Except they're all ethnically Arab?

Probably isn't exactly easy to find a seller when you are ISIS. MANPADs should be at the top of their list to buy though.
Problem for them is a lot of MANPADs don't hold their shelf life very well and begin to deteriorate in quality, anyone who is willing to sell them missiles those missiles would probably be old.

Play with semantics if you want. Precedents have been set to call it ethnic cleansing.

Saudi arabia would have a few lying around though?

Contrary to popular belief the Saudi state does not support ISIS that'd be counter productive for them.

As you said though, it's probably not easy for them to find a seller.
I suppose that's a side-effect of pissing off literally everybody from Al Qaeda all the way up to the regional governments.
