Asia Bibi has been awaiting execution since she was conviction for 'defaming the Prophet Muhamed' in 2010.

A Christian woman who has been facing execution in Pakistan for six years after being accused of blasphemy has been granted her final appeal.
Pakistan’s supreme court will hear the case of Asia Bibi, a mother-of-five from the rural village of Ittan Wali in Punjab, eastern Pakistan, who was convicted of blasphemy in 2010 after allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhamed during a row with other women over water.
All of Ms Bibi’s appeals in the lower courts failed before the supreme court temporarily suspended her execution in July 2015 ahead of a fresh hearing now scheduled to be heard on 13 October.
If her final appeal fails, Ms Bibi will be the first woman to be executed under the country’s controversial blasphemy laws.
Critics of the laws, which have been condemned by the international community, have said they are being abused by people persecuting religious minorities or trying to settle petty local squabbles.
Five days after the incident in June 2009, where several local Muslim women refused to drink water from the same bowl as an “unclean” Christian, a local imam - who was not present during the original argument - accused Ms Bibi of defaming the Prophet.
You'd think we're talking about something that happened 500 years ago, but no... this will happen, and keeps happening, in present day.
Imagine wanting to kill someone for not being a member of your religion.
When religion drives people to kill other people, it's going too far.
If only there were a crack team of vigilantes available to rescue people in severe distress. An "A" team of sorts.

The clowns?
This is why Islam will never get respect in the West
Pakistan is a mistake
The entire partition of India was a mistake. The fact that we allowed it to be 2 states rather than 5-6 that would actually make sense.
Retarded """"""freedom fighters"""""" like Gandhi and Nehru are why there's so many problems in India and the region today.
"Though I may walk
through the Valley of the Shadow of Death
I shall fear no evil
For thou art with me
Thy rod and thy staff
They comfort me" Psalms 23:4
Thoughts and prayers go out to this woman

Imagine if the clowns were actually only going after criminals/evil-doers

Actually, that worked out a hell of a lot better than letting the Brits continue to run our country. If it weren't for the independence movement, India would be in even more of a mess today. And the split was, ultimately, a good thing. Tensions between Hindus and Muslims in India were building because the British had segregated them along the lines of their religion. There would've been a bloody civil war before long if Pakistan had not been allowed to split. It's a failed state today, but neither Ghandi nor Nehru are responsible for that. They fucked it up for themselves. But way to deflect blame there. The British were the ones responsible for creating the tensions that led to the split in the first place.
She has little to no chance. I heard most of the pakistani are in favor of this.
The pope should make her a martyr and saint just to piss them off

Imagine being so insecure about your religious belief, you make it against the law to insult it.
1 easy way to show the world you don't want to be part of the modern era.
Sure would be nice if the International Community could do something about this. Fuck Pakistan.

Unless she's Catholic I dont see this happening.

Always room for optimism atleast
The pope should make her a martyr and saint just to piss them off
she didn't really die for any christian cause though despite being a christian, she died for making an anti-muslim statement. difference between yelling "white power" in a room full of black people versus yelling "fuck niggers." difference is here is that you shouldn't be considered a bad person for not believing their beliefs.

She is likely a Coptic Christian not a Catholic.

Damn that's a dark page in the history books, hoping she's the first survivor instead.
Don't the muslins recognize Jesus as a Prophet? Who is teaching these muslins that christians are "unclean"?
Their own retardation
Jesus is holy, Bible is holy, both according to Quran, but Christians are simply like, lost their way. They arent different than any other unbeliever, that is, innocent misled people. Pakistanis think Christians are unclean because their father or Imam told so.
You guys are flattering these people if you think they spend half a moment thinking and come to these conclusions through reason.
[editline]11th October 2016[/editline]
They were thought Christians are bad and unclean, so they think that way. I was taught Christians are normal people like me that just happen to not share "one true religion", so if I were a Muslim Id simply respectfully disagree and treat them with basic human decency, taught seperately. It is all environment and upbringing, zero contribution from Islam.
This is completely correct. The biggest contributing factor to violence due to religion like in the article, is malicious intent from religious authority figures along with people that don't question anything in their faith. This coupled with shitty education, make people do extremely dumb things. "The imam/priest said this, he knows better, so I should do what he says."

gandhi's fault
[editline]12th October 2016[/editline]
but seriously even though india divided
pakistan was inevitable.
gandhi's fault.
Didn't he try to stop it though?

Can't be a saint without some sort of divine miracle happening from you.
Not just any Christian can become a saint for any old reason.

I feel as if you're just passing the buck to the British.

The British did in India what they had done in other countries. Without taking time to understand the culture, they segregated the people by their religious faiths, creating not only big divisions between Hindus and Muslims, but since the Muslims were a minority, they became victims of systemic discrimination. This soured relationship between Hindus and Muslims was the reason that Muslims wanted to split and form Pakistan - a move that Gandhi ultimately supported because it would prevent further suffering and bloodshed. I don't think I'm passing the buck at all.
