• Commission bid: Commercial Product Packaging

Alright folks, so here's the deal: I've been attempting to develop a product of mine for quite some time, and I've finally reached the point where I need to start exploring my options for packaging, and what that might entail design-wise. That being said, I've never commissioned anything in my entire fucking life, and have no idea how to go about doing so. I'd be willing to pay for the commission, plus a small percentage if we ever actually manage to get the product launched. Please, if there's anything you think I should add to the OP to make it easier for anyone that might be seeking the commission, give me a heads up. What I'm looking for is a design for a small cardboard box (size doesn't really matter except for the fact that it'll be rectangular with the longer sides being vertical) like you'd find in the big box markets, one with one of those plastic viewing windows and one without. A complimenting array of earthy tones is preferable, but the general theme of the product packaging should follow renewable lifestyles and sustainability. Oh, and without giving too many details, the product is along the lines of a small hydroponics kit for home herbs and plants. Thanks guys, and again, if you need more details in the OP, just tell me.
Well... Basically to make a proper package we need to know everything about the product. How does it look, what is the target audience, What exactly is it, why would people need it, etc etc. All that jazz that should be figured out when deciding on the product and what market it's going in. You can't really making anything good for a product without knowing the ins and outs of the product. Then it will just be some generic shit that's dull and doesn't distinguish itself from the competition, it also has the risk of not even being associateship with the competition which is even worse. "What? It's a Dingamawhitt? I thought it was a barbie doll!". Also with packaging. Do you actually mean the design on the package? Or do you mean how the package itself is? Or both?
I mean the actual design on the package, not the package itself. The packaging is just a basic rectangular cardboard box. What I'm looking for something to start with, honestly. I can do all the technical crap myself, but all I need is something to start with. I realize now that I'm completely unprepared to request a commission from a community such as yourselves, and I should probably have the thread scrapped until I'm better off with my ideas.
