[sp]Next up. Mini Gun[/sp]
Favourite shotgun of all time.
Nothing is sexier.
Is it fair to say that the original FEAR game exploded the use of the SPAS in video games?
(Haven't watched the video yet)
That voice, holy shit.

Sorry, but the double barrel takes the cake for me

Such a shame how it isn't a more used weapon.
The Trench Gun, over-under, and SPAS-12 are my favourite.
I'd like to think that the AA12 is steadily rising above the SPAS12 in terms of popularity nowadays
Never understood why the HL2 shotgun could magically fire 2 shots at the same time. It looks so fucking stupid.

maybe in another life it was meant to be a standard double barrel shotgun?

You'd think they'd remove the double shot nature of it with when they added the spas 12 model, or at least make a fictional double barrelled pump action shotgun. I think the devs saw the tubular magazine and thought "wow cool, it has two barrels!".

SMG is weirder though, it fires a grenade out of the handle
oops
Disappointed that there was no mention of Jurassic Park. The only movie(or game) where I've actually seen someone put the stock into position.
was the "Clever Girl" too little of a reference for you
He did mention Jurassic Park, didn't he? I'm almost positive he did.
I forgot this serious existed. Subscribed so I don't forget again!
Yeah, right at 3:28

It's interesting to me that the SPAS-12 is so popular today, because pretty much everyone who's been issued or fired one agrees that it's an overengineered, excessively heavy, jam-tastic piece of badass-looking junk. Only a few scattered police forces use it and it never secured a military contract, yet thanks to Hollywood and videogames it's an iconic weapon.
SPAS means fun in german.

It's not that bad, it's just not that good either. There's no reason to upgrade from the shotguns already in use because the SPAS does effectively the same thing at twice the cost per unit.
Like all semi-auto shotguns, the SPAS-12's bolt is designed for "regular" loads and will jam using lighter shells. The pump feature is designed to let you run that ammo through it without having to change to a different gun - which is great, but it's just not useful enough to justify the cost.

Yeah, I had the opportunity to fire a SPAS a while back and it looked and felt awesome, but it ended up choking on low-brass buckshot, which IMO is excessively picky, and the weight is pretty terrible. I've also worked with a Benelli M3, which has the same pump/semi operation, weighs less, and cycled with anything heavier than birdshot reliably. Granted being a Benelli I'd hesitate to assume it's any cheaper.
I mean, you're right, no point in replacing what you have if it works, and it certainly looks awesome. It's just kind of surprising to me that it's so well-known because it was never an outstanding performer or adopted by a military or anything like that. I can't think of many other guns that are widely popular entirely because of their depiction in films despite lackluster performance in the real world.

pretty sure that's exactly the case iirc
So if the SPAS was invented in 1979, does this present a chronological issue for Call of Duty: Black Ops, where the setting is the 60s and the gun is prevalent in single and multi-player?

Oh yeah, of course, half of the guns in Black Ops are completely anachronistic.
i wanted him to make a joke about this ugly piece of shit when the double barreled half life topic came up

Ahoy is great. I've been following the series and I'm loving every moment of it
Isn't this the 2nd season?

this is why it is popular, this is also why the desert eagle is popular
