DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — When U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry made another stop in the Middle East this month, he received an expected earful over Washington’s outreach to Iran: Don’t trust Tehran, tighten sanctions even more, anything short of complete nuclear concessions is a grave mistake.
Kerry’s meeting wasn’t in Israel, though. It was with in Riyadh, listening to Saudi leaders.
In one of the region’s oddest pairings, Israel and the Gulf Arab states led by Saudi Arabia increasingly are finding common ground — and a common political language — on their mutual dismay over Iran’s history-making overtures to Washington and the prospect of a nuclear deal in Geneva that could curb Tehran’s atomic program but leave the main elements intact, such as uranium enrichment.
“The adage about ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ is playing out over Iran,” said Theodore Karasik, a security and political affairs analyst at the Dubai-based Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis.
Everybody is ganging up on Iran it seems.
They lub each ofers c:
Of course they would. Iran's rising status poses a threat to the Sunni-based hegemony in the Middle East. Saudi (while not to the vitriolic extent of Israel) dislikes Iran, but for all the completely different reasons.
This is why we've seen a muted response from the US with regards to Bahrain and Saudi amid the Arab Spring. The US sponsors these "khaleej" (الخليج‎) nations in exchange for plopping military bases there to undermine Iran.

As much as I despise theocracies in general, I can't help but feel some measure of sympathy towards Iran considering a significant portion of the Arab world (even the Soviet Union and the US at the time) wants them crushed; going so far as to basically turn a blind eye to Iraqi chemical weapons use against them in the Iran-Iraq war.
At the very least, entrenching their siege mentality isn't going to help matters in the slightest.

Be warned it's a long bloody read. In essence the quote was fabricated by an author trying to make money off Christians and Masons alike

Somebody needs to give these belligerent nations a figurative slap to the face. If Iran wants to build peaceful nuclear power plants they have every right to do so.

Tengil keeps saying "Winter is Coming" to make his inane ramblings seem more impressive or profound
"Winter is Coming" is the motto of the Starks from Game of Thrones. In response I add the mottos of various other families. "Fire and Blood" for the Targaeryens and "Our Knives Are Sharp" for the Boltons.
Just to get a grasp on how much these nations hated each other, The question of Israels possible involvement in the Gulf War because of the scuds almost tore the coalition apart

Sure
Doesn't mean the [del]Jews[/del] dastardly bankers are plotting to start WWIII in order to kill the US dollar and hoard gold for the apocalypse
The fact that in this day and age countries are still being intentionally held back due to paranoia is ridiculous. Iran is a sovereign nation, and as such it has rights allowed by the UN, so why is it that these rights are ignored by most major nations, and in the case of the US and Israel, flat out threatened?
I personally think that the treatment of Iran in recent years has been disgusting. They have not really shown military aggression, or acted upon any aggression in the last 30 or so years, and the only major conflict that they have been involved in was a defensive one, so I fail to see how the treatment of Iran is anything other than paranoia and discrimination.

It's interesting to note that that's actually part of the same reason we installed a dictator during the 1950's into iran. we saw the shiite movement "Gaining too much power." That move was partially pushed by one Winston Churchill.
