It's been, what, eight years in development?
So glad development on this kept chugging along, always thought the game had a shitload of potential. Physics-heavy combat is fucking cool.
This is still a thing? I remember playing this when I was a kid. [editline]4th October 2017[/editline] No wait I got it confused with Lugaru, the first game. Didn't know it was getting a sequel, looks dope.
I keep forgetting this thing is still going. I found my email with the keys and such so I could activate it on Steam. From 2011.
I would always come back to the pre-release versions of this game every couple of years and play around with whatever stage they were at. I thought I remembered it being cancelled, but I'm very happy to see it's actually reaching a finished state. I might finally pick it up myself.
Incredible to see this actually nearing completion, I remember the first thread about this on FP ages ago. Seemed far too ambitious at the time.
Since 25 November 2008, Wolfire Games has released new Alpha tests every 2–5 months, containing most of the features so far implemented in the game. These are available to people who have pre-ordered the game.
So yeah. Almost 9 years now.
Holy crap, this is still in development? Gotta give these guys props for working on for this for so long.
They aren't kidding when they say the levels are more detailed than ever, the amount of detail put in some of them is unbelievable for an indie team
I remember thinking that the graphics looked incredible for an indie game back in early stages, now it's a lot less impressive but still great
So yeah. Almost 9 years now.
Amazing to think that by the time this game started development, Boyhood had already taken 6 years to make.

It would probably be more impressive if it wasn't for the level creation system they use, where it's mostly brushes and objects mushed together to create things.
Hard to believe Wolfire started Humble bundle, I wonder if they will have overgrowth in a bundle for its 1.0 release.
Man, I remember first finding out about this game years ago from a NerdCubed video. Always thought it looked like it could shape up to be incredibly fun; I'm glad it's still being worked on and keeping up with tech advances.

Been so long, and I'm 100% certain I bought this way back when, but I can't remember which email it was, or if I even still have access to the email...
Did they use humble bundle proceeds to fund this game partially? That would make sense why its not dead yet.
It really does look very good, the atmosphere is incredible, it probably feels better in action [thumb]http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2017/38/1/1505771242-20170909154919-1.jpg[/thumb]
I hate to say this but it looks like a generic unity game besides the models
Overgrowth looked a lot more impressive before the big free to use engines such as Unity & UDK / UE4 happened . For a game engine created by a very small indie team, it looked amazing back in the day and even now it's quite impressive. Too bad nowadays they could have just easily used UE4 and build the whole game in way less time & it would have looked way better
Wish the game was more brutal. I wanna cut dudes apart. The blood does look good though and I love the sounds they use for breaking bones.

[editline]4th October 2017[/editline]
Holy crap, this is still in development? It feels great and very kinect-y in movement, but the game looks quite dated, they took way too long to release it.
Looks impressive gameplay-wise but damn does it looks WAY too much like stock Unity.
That last impalement in the video was horrible
I remember when this was still a technical marvel of an indie game. The engine had/ has a lot of quite neat rendering techniques that no other free engines at the time were really any good for. Along with a decent implementation of IK (which for a game as old as the prototypes was still quite hard to do) and some nifty animations. It's fallen a bit to the side technically now since big name engines exist and provide a lot of this stuff in some way already. But it's still a very neat project none the less, hopefully the gameplay does stack up to the expectations.

I'd say it's the combat and perhaps the AI.
Looks impressive gameplay-wise but damn does it looks WAY too much like stock Unity.
Its unfortunate it took so long to finish. It was a lot more impressive looking when Unity and UDK didn't exist yet.
I actually thought this game died off until recently. Glad to see they finally are going to finish it.
Ayy I forgot I bought this years ago It's like a birthday gift from my past self, I'm gonna enjoy a new game for what feels like free
