I made this thread a couple months ago, but the pictures I posted were low quality. So I will just give a TL;DR version. I found this old coin in my grandfathers farm, in the ground under some plants. I don't know what it is. I'm not even sure if it's a coin, but it looks very old. What should I do with it? And what the fuck is this?
looks like a frozen dog shit with weird markings on it
go get it appraised, it's probably nothing anyway
looks like a frozen dog shit with weird markings on it
thatll happen when in the ground for 600 years while being a metallic object
Wow, so cavemen DID have pancakes!
that looks like a poop [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] or a fucked up hamburger
That's a bottle cap...you are not fooling anyone.
Post a pic of it next to a modern coin.
That's a bottle cap...you are not fooling anyone.
If you inspect it carefully, you can see it's not. [editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
Post a pic of it next to a modern coin.
Alright, will try in a moment.
Whereabouts did you find it, apart from in a farm - which country / region are you in? it looks way more battered, but you can definitely see yours has those edges that have spilled out from a press, like these
Why would you call it a coin and say you don't know what it is
That's a bottle cap...you are not fooling anyone.
what kind of bottle caps do YOU use??
It's some old cookie.
Why would you call it a coin and say you don't know what it is
Because it looks remarkably like a coin.
Aliens!
If in good condition, coins that old can be worth a lot. Nice find anyway. :buddy:

The city was full of Armenians in the old times.
looks like byzantine empire stuff I can clearly see a face and a cross so it has to be
I was in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey when I found this. The city was full of Armenians in the old times.
This is definitely interesting, I dunno where you'd take it to get examined or whatever.

Byzantine empire controlled Turkey in the past, I guess it can be one of their coins.
Shit thats mine OP give it back.
I agree with gregvizz. I'm taking a class called "AP World History" and we just went over that not too long ago. Mind if I email my teacher the picture?

[editline]18th December 2010[/editline]
Post a pic of it next to a modern coin.
I searched around my house but couldn't find the coin. I'm guessing my mom secured it somewhere, but it's slightly larger than 1 euro and slimmer.
what kind of bottle caps do YOU use??
Ancient coins, duh.
its gold
Make a thread about it. But on a more serious note, it looks bronze, the edges have deteriorated pretty badly. You should go down to a coin shop or something and show them.
5th century op go get rich for me plz k [editline]18th December 2010[/editline] probably this is what it is or probably it's like this one but whatever it is it has this X and below this x 3 letters. It belongs in a museum.
if op gets like 10 million for this coin he deserves a title
Donate it to the museum. If it was nothing, who cares. If it's really worth something, you'll be appreciated, maybe they'll put your name next to it like "donated by Bacteria".
