What would be the best recording software if I was going to record some songs.
I'm pretty sure you'll want Logic Pro or Protools or something.
protools I guess if you can afford it and the hardware to run it
What would be the best recording software if I was going to record some songs.
You need to be more specific. You can't just go out and get a new software CD. You're going to need other items as well, that will have to be bought separately. I'm currently using Session by M-Audio for more serious things, and I also use Audaucity for things that aren't too serious. If you have a very good budget, go with Pro-Tools, or something of the like.
Audacity for raw recording. For things where you need intense editing and effects (to fix your poor performance..), see above posts
You'd also need some good quality mics if you wanted it to sound decent
I'd recommend Logic Pro, easy to use.

But you can always resort to putting a single mic in a pillow, sitting it in front of the bass drum, and recording. It turns out pretty good, from what I've experienced.
