A gun instructor in the US state of Ohio has accidentally shot a student in the arm in a class for people seeking permits to carry a concealed firearm.

Terry Dunlap, 73, was demonstrating a .38-calibre pistol when it went off and struck Michael Piemonte, 26. He and his wife were taking the day-long class in order to carry guns for their own safety, he told local media. Treat every gun as if it were loaded. Gun safety 101.
Wasn't this a guy on Reddit? I remember seeing someone posting about having this happen to them.
Oh man imagine if those were hollow points
At least it was only a little .38 rather than a .45 or a .44 Magnum, guy's probably going to have arm pain for the rest of his life now though.
Little known fact, this guy was the man's first teacher. He died. [sp]of lung cancer. Smoking kills, kids[/sp]

best bit is when he shows the ar15 and they all go crazy
This wouldn't have happened if the student had a gun.
Ban all assault teachers, etc.
good thing it was only a .38 revolver instead of a .50 caliber assault rifle death ray that would have killed everyone in the immediate vicinity with one heat seeking bullet

I've always wondered if that was planned or not, he was really pushy on saying that it was an unloaded gun, seemed like he was trying to convince people it was, I'm thinking that it was a blank that was fired.
With the amount of guns in this country, we honestly should have more education regarding firearm safety.
Gun safety training should be mandatory before you're even allowed to touch one
I grew up with guns and my dad would hammer gun safety into my head all the time when I was a kid. He even made a written safety test that he made me take before he bought me my first rifle haha. I'm gonna do that to my kids and gunowners who are parents should educate their children on firearm safety too, so that it sticks with them for life and they can teach their kids and create a smarter generation of gun owners.
Gun safety training should be mandatory before you're even allowed to touch one
I'm inclined to agree. Then again, it would probably mean a two day program that lasts for all of each day and takes two hours to get to and barely even gets the point across. It'd be like getting my hunting license all over again. For things like this, it should be possible to except from the class by demonstrating beforehand that you aren't an idiot.
1. Treat every gun as if it were loaded. 2. Maybe if you're a teacher in a fucking classroom you should keep your gun unloaded???
I wonder if the fact that he's 73 has anything to do with it.
Oh man imagine if those were holo points
holographic bullets are very dangerous

I'm amazed that nobody moved a muscle when that gun went off.

In a small classroom like that, he would be gambling with the hearing of everyone in that room.
holographic bullets are very dangerous
I meant to do that actually no I don't know what I was thinking, I blame garrysmod holograms.
At least it was only a little .38 rather than a .45 or a .44 Magnum, guy's probably going to have arm pain for the rest of his life now though.
Good thing it wasn't a .38 loaded with hollow points, his arm would be mangled.
I wonder if the fact that he's 73 has anything to do with it.
took the words right out of my mouth with that one
Gun safety training should be mandatory before you're even allowed to touch one
When I went to a shooting range in germany, I was thoroughly instructed in gun safety before I even picked up the gun, and then again as I held the unloaded gun in my hand. And then again as I loaded it.

What kind of bloody idiot keeps their gun loaded at any other time than when they are planning to shoot something with it.
What kind of bloody idiot keeps their gun loaded at any other time than when they are planning to shoot something with it.
Well, when you're carrying, you kind of want it loaded but you're not planning on shooting anything. Though, I get your point. If you're instructing, that piece shouldn't be loaded until it's pointed down-range.
With the amount of guns in this country, we honestly should have more education regarding firearm safety.
Yeah, unless you have an ironic situation where you get shot at a firearm safety training class there shouldn't be so many accidental misfire- oh wait......
With the amount of guns in this country, we honestly should have more education regarding firearm safety.
Too many people think teaching about guns is politically incorrect these days. Talk about a gun in school!? Suspended! Everyone should know how to safely handle a firearm.
