I agree with Jim completely. I used to love PD2 but the DLC, Microtransactions and horrid way it updates kinda drove me away
Overkill really fucked over their fan base with Payday 2.
He pretty much nailed it. When the flow DLC really got going, I just slowly stopped caring. I think I ended up buying the very first but that was it. I used some mod menu to access some of the guns but I really couldn't care less by the end. Hoxton breakout was the last thing I played.
For some reason, this doesn't feel like something Overkill (at least the genuine people there) wanted to do. Rather something they were made to do by some higher ups.

Betting it was Starbreeze who forced them

I'm feeling like this has something to do with Ulf leaving OK, but Bo still works at Starbreeze, so I dunno.
Jesus christ Payday 2 really went down the shitter didnt it
I bought it not that long ago and regret it. 1-2gb updates every two days drives me up the fucking wall. That and the recent addition of micro transactions just screams "fuck the fans."
It's been incredibly depressing seeing Payday going full TF2
Fantastic multiplayer shooter slowly kills itself in favor of microtransaxtion and cosmetics
Hah, at least some people are able to check out how the game has changed after crime fest, the update has broken my game to where I can't even launch it.
Hundreds of other people are having the same problem. Guess what? Not even a single comment or change on that issue; just like they're sweeping it under the rug.

I wouldn't say TF2 is that bad, I mean someone could say the recent changes with weapon skins and stuff is killing TF2 but I can't really be mad about those because I've got over 10 euros of profit by selling dumb things for dumb people.
Someone always gets fucked over.
I don't agree that cosmetics kill a game, it's only an issue if they are marketed too aggressively and get in the way of the game.
I'd say it changes the player base too, especially if (and/or when) it becomes Free-to-Play (Or in this case, Pay-to-Win).
Thoughts?

Ever since DLCs.
Microtransactions were just the straws that broke the camels' backs
Payday 2 was a really fun game. You compare the technical and netcode aspects of the game to L4D and PD2 is indeed akin to a pile of trash, but it was still pretty fun.
Not anymore. RIP game, even with all the awful DLC it still had a chance until now.
I honestly don't care at all about the micro transactions. The reason though is that the disgusting amount of crap DLC they added already drove me away from the game.

Isn't the CEO of Overkill also the CEO of Starbreeze?

Jim hits the nail right on the head for me. This is exactly how I feel.

he used to Be CEO Of overkill but now hes CEO Of starbreeze what i found out from some research.
Dunno why they have microtransactions when they already have the crapton of DLCs supporting their game.
refund it while you still can
[editline]19th October 2015[/editline]
also anyone who bought this game and got steam items from I would just put it on the market,.?

More money to
A. Fund the development of their Walking Dead game that we still haven't seen any footage of.
and
B. Fund the development of StarVR, Starbreeze's attempt to compete with the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Also yes, Overkill has been essentially merged into Starbreeze. Overkill saves Starbreeze from going bankrupt, and in return, Overkill and Starbreeze become the same basic business entity.
It seems some of the key people at Overkill have left as of recently though. Most notably, Ulf Andersson (game designer on both PAYDAYs, VA for Wolf, and founder of Overkill) and Simon Viklund (composer, VA of Bain, and I believe game director of PAYDAY 2 early on). The former actually has started up a new studio apparently by the name of 10 Chambers, whose focus will be "hardcore co-op FPS."
So yeah, PAYDAY is sadly dead. Overkill is dead. Long live 10 Chambers and Ulf Andersson?
This seems awfully like CSGO. And speaking of which, CSGO on consoles hasn't been updated since the day it was released. A+ work Valve.
It's like CSGO if it had 100+ dollars of gamechanging dlc constantly being put into the game.
how is it "game-changing"?
you dont need any of the DLC to have a good time, and you aren't punished for not having any of the DLC
you can even poach DLC from other people in crime.net

All the meta weapons and mods are locked behind DLC actually. Heck, the sniper rifle weapons are all behind a paywall, and just now that they're releasing a free LMG, the only things that are shared are heists. Even then, all heists comes with weapons, and they aren't shared, so there IS game changing content behind DLC.

Every recommended weapon for taking out SWAT Vans and Captain Winters is DLC. With the weapon rebalance I'm not really sure if that's still the case.
Also, there's grenades and perk decks, which are very game changing.

does that ruin your gaming experience
im perfectly fine with paying 1 dollar for a few sniper rifles that they most likely spent time and money developing after the game was released, why aren't you?
Oh yeah ethics in gaming or whatever it's not right to charge money because its all digital, right??!?!?

You dont need to kill the Captain or any Swat Vans. They do little damage and stand still for a reason.
Grenades I can agree with, those should be default with the introduction of the other throwing weapons.
Enjoy not having 75% of the weapons, not being able to host 50% of the heists, having 6 characters to choose from, and half the perk decks.
Yes you could say these don't change the game but you'd be a liar because a few of those perk decks make DW much easier and having the ability to penetrate shields and unbreakable glass w/ sniper is invaluable.
So would you criticize Obsidian Entertainment for releasing DLC to Fallout New Vegas that adds about 50% more weapons, 4 new areas, new characters to meet, and more perks to gain? No, because it's not a competitive game and those things only ADD to the experience. Just because it's content that CAN be added to the game for free doesn't mean it NEEDS to be added for free.
If the developers spent time, money and sweat to make these DLC's they have every fucking right to sell them for $1. Most of you are just being spoiled, thinking it's actually wrong for a company to charge money for post-release product. Hahaha Grow up.
I wouldn't criticize them because the base game is so huge that it doesn't even matter (not to mention that the content has a lot of effort put into it and even the GRA dlc has challenges and shit packed in it as well). But nice job giving a profile comment and calling all detractors babies that need to grow up, really helping your side there pal.
You are being children if you think you can get everything online for free, thinking you're entitled to have that DLC. Not every developer is Valve; they don't gotta give us free DLC like it's L4D.
PayDay 2 was perfectly playable before DLC, it's perfectly playable after DLC. You can use the M4 Carbine you get as a starter weapon and do deathwish missions if you so please.
Cool, but they give very low value dlc at a high price and everyone can see through it easily. There's no way in hell that you can really justify buying 1 level for 7 dollars unless you have a blind love for corporate greed.
Just because something is out of your price range and you're too cheap to cough up dollars for something you obviously really want seeing as you're entitled to it; then that's you're own spoiled fault.
does that ruin your gaming experience

It's not because they added a few sniper rifles. It's because they added all this shit

and charged charged what is proportionally a huge amount of money for very little content. That Obsidian example you used? The GRA costs 2 dollars. Overkill would break all those weapons and shit up, and sell them in packs of 4 for 5 dollars each. And they kept making this shit over and over, and this is only half of what they're going to have made. And it amounts to over $100 dollars worth of bullshit. That's enough to get two entire fucking games, while offering a fraction as much content. And that's after they put a price reduction on most of it, too. And then they're going to add microtransactions and pay to win on top of that?
See the thing is most of this doesn't even add more than fucking weapons, over half the weapons in the game are DLC only. We didn't need any more and they just kept pumping it in, flooding the game with advertisements for their bullshit. They made content we didn't need. We didn't need more guns, we needed more heists, and more features that made the game better like suit and gun customization, menu and AI improvements, new levels, the game needed to be improved but instead, they just gave us more guns. And then they got gimmicky. They started adding guns that detract from the game because they ruin the game's theme. A fucking bow and arrow does not belong in a modern crime game. That's like tossing an LMG in Skyrim. It's fucking dumb. And then they got downright lazy. The chivalry pack is literally lazy, ported weapons from Chivalry that they charge you money for.
And we don't get those new features that make sense and are actually needed, we don't get features that they promised were going to be out at release, nothing they promise comes without almost a year's worth of waiting if not more, why? Because they spend that time making fucking DLC.
Yes, there is a point where you need to stop making your game. You need to stop making extra content, you need to stop being a complete money grubbing prick. The DLC itself was unreasonable. Then they lump on microtransactions and shit like that. And we're still missing content. So yes, it does 'ruin my gaming experience'.
They can fuck off.
