Slightly unrelated but recently one guy from a game news site I follow mentioned that we had a phase of zombie games and now it's space games. Not really complaining becase I prefer these more than the zombie ones but it does feel like they are behing every corner.

Just a few years ago we had a very, very long period of time with very, very few space games.
Guess it's like a rebound, the demand soared due to the complete lack of them, so now they're pretty much flooding the market.
Sol Contingency, the one they C&D'd to make this looked more like descent IMO.

Because space games are exclusive to the PC audience, there too complex for average Joe who just wants games like Halo and Call of Duty for his Xbox so publishers will almost never fund them until kickstarter came around.

Well its not being done by Interplay, its being done by people who worked on the original Descent at a new studio called Descendant Studios

Interplay sponsored them and helped fund the Kickstarter.
They likely have a [I]big[/I] hand in development.

Picked this up straight away. It handles exactly like Descent and even has trichording in!
