Slightly unrelated but recently one guy from a game news site I follow mentioned that we had a phase of zombie games and now it's space games. Not really complaining becase I prefer these more than the zombie ones but it does feel like they are behing every corner.

Guess it's like a rebound, the demand soared due to the complete lack of them, so now they're pretty much flooding the market.
Sol Contingency, the one they C&D'd to make this looked more like descent IMO.

Wait what, is this a successor to forsaken 64?
Wait what, is this a successor to forsaken 64?
Its a new game in the Descent series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Descent_(video_game)
The fact they are giving single player the lowest priority kinda makes me iffy, I've got it on steam however just because I'm a massive Decent fan.
Yeah, eh, I'd rather buy this http://store.steampowered.com/app/327880/ and keep an eye on this www.preparefordescent.com (Sol Contigency, still continuing on as a proper spiritual successor) I don't trust any of Interplay's projects.
Well its not being done by Interplay, its being done by people who worked on the original Descent at a new studio called Descendant Studios
Who do you think gave them permission to use the name? Interplay sponsored them and helped fund the Kickstarter. They likely have a big hand in development. Also, no-one from Descendant Studios had a hand on the original Descent games. The only person they have that worked on the originals is Dan Wentz - Who did the soundtrack and sound design. Interplay USED to have half of the original Descent dev team, but it was bought by THQ and dissolved in the early 00s. [sp]I don't like Interplay very much, is it obvious?[/sp]
Descendant Studios has nobody from the original dev team on it at all. The original team, Parallax Software, split into Volition and Outrage Entertainment/Games. Outrage was dissolved in 2003 and a lot of the team went on to work at Reactor Zero. Nobody from either team has had any hand in making this game. Honestly looks like a huge disappointment to me. I'm waiting for Sol Contingency.
Descent: Underground is a cash grab on the name. It also has shitty microtransactions for multiplayer lmfao
Descent: Underground is a cash grab on the name. It also has shitty microtransactions for multiplayer lmfao
actually those were removed a while back, thankfully.
