(and factually inaccurate)

These comments are pretty civil. We should really be looking beyond race though, instead of trying to place blame and hold people responsible.
The ridiculousness behind whole movement for slave reparations is a good example of this.
I'm not sure how many levels of satire deep this video is and therefore I'm not sure if I like it or not
I don't think any part of the video is satire.
This screams satire
It's funny because the argument is split right down the middle between... white guys who don't know what inequality is and everyone else.
is it satire or serious?
dont hit me pls

This kind of white guilt thing has always struck me as being completely nothing. The most coherent statement I can get is "Judging solely on conjecture about your race with no evidence to back up that white guys care less, you probably don't care enough about these issues".
Just the idea that you can come up with some racial hierarchy and apply broad statistics to individuals to claim holistically you have it slightly better than someone who may or may not be in the same situation except they're black.
It's not a specific problem to be solved or anything, it reeks more of a means of guilting people into supporting them so they don't have to actually explain what the problem is.

i think it's more a quip at the fact that most white people don't realize how good they have it in terms of a social hierarchy than anything
this isnt to mean everyone who is white has an amazing life, but in general, if you're white you are treated better by default almost 90% of the time

That's kinda the problem, claiming they have it better in some social hierarchy and relying on the assumption that white people have it better. When you say better, do you mean people wouldn't look at you as funny for liking country music, or you'll earn 3% more on average for the same job, or if you were black you'd just be poor?
Even the idea that white people don't realise they have it better, not only does it rely on intuition for a basis what the fuck do you even mean by having it better that they don't realise, because the stereotype of black people being poor is what the statement from intuition requires people already believe.
I could get twenty different responses giving different ideas about it and it just shows it's an empty idea that you need to put your own ideas into. If there was actually a message and something to work towards then no problem, but it's completely empty and has no direction but the vague "Don't treat women and minorities badly". There's no solutions and it won't change anyone's opinion because they either believe they're already doing it or they're asking what the fuck you mean.
I apologize for nothing.

what's ridiculous about this video to me is that it is very obviously penned by someone who's of the Tumblr brand of Social Justice. God forbid you're a white, cisgendered man on there, otherwise people will hate you for just existing. It's way too excessive and to me, makes the social justice movement look like it's spearheaded by radical feminists when that is exactly the opposite of the reputation they need. nobody will take your movement for equality seriously when the people that are in that movement say shit like
literally 98% of cis people ARE transphobic, cissexist and transmisogynistic
I feel like all the shit-slinging and bickering about who has it better and who is terrible and etc. just makes achieving any sort of progress much more difficult than it has to be

Except there are quantifiable things that point to this inequality.
One example of that is even among the poor, white people still have an advantage over black people when it comes to mobility.
http://www.pewstates.org/uploadedFiles/PCS_Assets/2012/Pursuing_American_Dream.pdf
A significant black-white gap also exists for relative mobility. More than half of black
adults (53 percent for family income and 50 percent for family wealth) raised at the
bottom remain stuck there as adults, but only a third of whites (33 percent for both) do.
Blacks also are more downwardly mobile than whites. For family income, over half (56
percent) raised in the middle fall to the bottom or second rung as adults, compared
with almost a third (32 percent) of whites. For family wealth, more than two-thirds
(68 percent) of blacks raised in the middle fall to the bottom or second rung as adults,
compared with just under a third (30 percent) of whites.
Mostly this is due to things limiting opportunities because of race.
This isn't about making people feel guilty for being white, its about making people aware that there is an inequality of opportunity that is linked with race.

As usual, fixating on a discrimination only exacerbates it. :v:

Even ignoring that stuff, there are some big branding problems in it. It's the same problem as with most awareness charities where people contribute time and effort and they feel better because they did something, but they didn't actually help solve the problem.
There are some people out there doing good stuff, but most of it seems to hurt more than it helps and this kind of thing is just divisive crap when it should be such an easy sell.

Oh is that what you meant, then why didn't everyone say that in the first place? If it's about a lack of social mobility for black people then why are people complaining about white people not realising how good they have it? Does white-guilt solve economic problems in some way I'm not aware of?
I'm not retarded since a simple Google of the median household income by race shows it a lot simpler, because my argument wasn't that such inequality isn't there. The issue is that this kind of "Check your Privilege" argument is vague to the point of confusion, proposes no solutions to any of these problems, and relies on a holistic view of a racial hierarchy which is such a wishy-washy thing to rely on when there are so many far simpler and straightforward things.
Of course if you brought up things like low social mobility for black people, you might have a hard time selling to white people that they should feel guilty about it, since they'll ask how exactly that helps the problem.
I'm a white person, so therefore I'm perfect

we did because we had the resources to do so, in other parts of the world they didn't. Our skin color is irrelevant.
I dont care what you believe, shaming videos like this is not the way to gain equality.
If anything it'll just make things worse.

People in some parts of the world are just better people than in other parts.
There's places in Africa you could air drop hammers and hatchets and other tools so they can build better homes and shit for themselves and they'll just beat each other to death with them instead
Asians should be sorry!

In a white persons mind the history of mankind consists of Europe and only Europe. Also it's about 400 years long.
Black power.
nah we got nuked you see
