Leprechaun: Origins helmer Zach Lipovsky will be directing a Dead Rising movie based on the popular Capcom survival horror video game series. The film is being produced by Legendary Pictures’ new Legendary Digital Media division and Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. After the jump we have a lot more information on the project.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy producer Tim Carter wrote the script. The 90-minute digital feature film will premiere exclusively on Crackle in the US and will be distributed internationally in both episodic and feature format by Content Media Corp. Dead Rising will also be released on SVOD, DVD, VOD and TV after its run on Crackle.
If it's only semi-serious with a bunch of goofy shit, ala Shaun of the Dead, I think it'd be a fantastic film.
We need more horror/comedy zombie films.

With... a really stern expression.
But there already is a Dead Rising movie, it's called Dawn of the Dead.

Like, for fucks sake, Capcom had to put a disclaimer on the box for Dead Rising saying that it had nothing to do with the movie.
This is the first I've heard of a Dead Rising movie.
All I know is it better be rated R or there's no point to making it. Without crazy excessive gore; it won't be Dead Rising.
Throughout the movie the protagonist will randomly switch their wardrobe to something like a tutu and a duck mask and nobody will say anything about it.
I hope it is good, I heard Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun was shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
I also hope the main character is Chuck.
EDIT: Transformers producer and Mortal Kombat writer...oh god.

Don't be dissing him, he's covered wars you know.
So, are we going to get a game that's spawned from the new movie that came from the game?
So who's playing Adam
Why are they describing Dead Rising as a survival horror game? Survival, sure, but DR is anything but horror
Not a single credit in the discription filled me with any confidence what so ever.

Dead rising isnt scary in the slightest. But zombies and gallons of blood certainly fall under the horror bracket.

I don't know. Second half of Shaun of the dead was pitch black, and not goofy at all.
I think the way TV is nowadays, videogames are a better fit. You can get just as big a budget as a film but go into more depth. 72 episodes of Dead Rising might be a bit much though.
