I'm torn. On the one hand, it looks cool and it's good that it is not trying to cram two thousand pages into two hours of film. On the other hand, some changes seem detrimental. Jake's ingress into Roland's world was blood-curdling in the book. Here, he just enters a fucking portal and that's it. No having to fuck an invisible demon while a drug addict is trying to draw a door on the ground.
Looks good. I have only read 4 books so far but I actually thought they tried to adapt 7 books into one movie.
looks cool except for the kid
I hope when McConaughey shows up in the movie, he walks up with his arms out, saying "Alright, alright, alright."
I like how they the duel music from "For a few dollars more" at the beginning of the trailer.

Is this real? Fuck ima have to read this book

You show me an America where they can get away with that and I'll show you a world we're not living in
Damn, did they entirely ditch the story of the first book? where's the badass showdown in the first town?
If I recall, the movie is going to take place AFTER the events of the final book
I should go back and read the entire series. I've only read The Drawing of the Three and even that was just because my homeroom teacher had in our classroom in high school.

Indeed. In a way, this may be the [sp]next iteration, quite literally. Though if so and not merely an adaptation, Roland needs to carry the Horn of Eld, which he didn't have during the events of the books.[/sp]
Either way, I'm still sold. Idris Elba looks like a pretty badass Gunslinger.

Careful with the spoilers.

Yup. This is how we do. ...I wonder if, [sp]this time, Roland will be able to break his accursed loop?[/sp]

[sp]I guess that depends if he's (again) willing to sacrifice his ka-tet in favor of reaching the tower.[/sp]
Well, you know what they say about those who [sp]do not remember history. Unless Roland is able to discover his past, even partially, he might still be stuck.[/sp]

I wonder if they are going to touch that at all. I always had the suspicion [sp]that the man in black knew.[/sp]
Is this real? Fuck ima have to read this book
This would be book 3, The Wastelands. That sequence of events includes a black bipolar cripple trying to stay alive while taking an invisible stingray demon's cock so that a reformed heroin addict has enough time to draw a door on the ground so that the kid can escape from a house that is literally a monster on the inside in New York to their fairytale world
Should probably use spoilers

Personally, I just see that as a convenient excuse to scarcely draw from the novels. To my knowledge, they are not planning any sequels, either.
The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of Eddie and Susannah.
Also, did everyone see [sp]The Overlook?[/sp]
I know nothing about the dark tower, but what i was hoping for was a bit more paranormal thriller, this seems more like a straight up fantasy story.
looks alright, was wondering how they were going to show the gunslingers skills.
in the books his gunfighting skill was almost inhuman, that's prob what it would look like.

I should start reading more books

the shot of him slipping the bullets in super-fast was really cool, the shot of him Matrix-flipping a pair of speedloaders into his guns was not

That's what it is. It's like someone took The Good, the Bad and the Ugly used it to make The Lord of the Rings

trailer also showed [sp]a sign that says pennywise and a statue's hand holding balloons[/sp]
So I never read the books or even heard about this till the film was said to be made.
Two really good leads, I think it'll be a good movie, though marketing seems worrisome for it.

I can't wait to see Stephen King's cameo.
[sp]his are better than Stan Lee's, god love 'im[/sp]

I would be on board with this and a Stephen King Cinematic Universe that tied together through The Dark Tower... if Sony wasn't the ones doing it.
