A Massachusetts Air National Guard F-15C fighter crashed and burned Wednesday morning in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, shortly after the pilot reported an emergency. "There is an ongoing rescue mission," Col. James Keefe, commander of the 104th Fighter Wing, said at an afternoon press conference. "At this time we have no had contact with our pilot." It was unknown if the pilot, who was very experienced, managed to eject from the single-seater plane. Helicopters and ground rescue crews were looking for the airman in a remote area near the town of Deerfield. "It's deeply wooded and a lot of hills and mountains," Keefe said, adding that there was no cellphone service in the area and it was possible the pilot ditched his radio if he bailed out. "We're thinking about the family. Keep your thoughts and prayers with him," Keefe said.
Source: NBC
He probably ejected and is wandering around.
Behind Friendly Lines Hope the pilot is okay
Sure would be weird if he's being hunted by an ex-con in a tracksuit
Sure would be weird if he's being hunted by an ex-con in a tracksuit
Well, it is Virginia.
I bet he will turn up in some small town in a few days
He probably ejected and is wandering around.
If he ejected, There's a good chance they would know very quickly. That said, I'm hoping its a matter of faulty survival equipment and he's down there somewhere. I'm sure keeping my fighter brethren in my thoughts tonight
let's hope he's chilling in a tree somewhere stuck in a huge chair with rockets on the bottom

Maybe he's just wandering until he finds someone to take him to civilization. ...OR MAYBE IT WAS ALIENS!
I wonder what caused it to go down?
He probably ejected and is wandering around.
The seat has flares, a gps locator beacon, etc. If he ejected then he has everything he needs to survive in the wilderness until he gets found. An unfortunate bump, I'm afraid. It looks like he didn't make it, the seat was within the wreck of the aircraft. http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/military-pilot-killed-virginia-15-crash-25169753
