• Drawing Circles on Metal and Scribing

Hey guys, does anyone have recommendations on how to draw a 2.25 inch circle on some sheet metal? My last attempt was pretty shoddy. Some general guidelines on how to use a metal scribe are also appreciated.
What did you use to draw it last time? I'd recommend using a metal compass (with a metal point) and slotting a nail/screw/scribe where the pencil would go. I tried using a compass, but it kept slipping and the sides of it were uneven. I'll buy a new one I guess and I try it out again.
There's also a method that doesn't require a compass, using a square and finding the center and drawing a shitload of lines to the center etc. Takes a steady hand.
Cardboard Strip, push two thumbtacks through it. Anchor one tack as center, swing around while pushing down. Drilling a small hole into center to anchor a tack or nail really helps too if you don't mind a hole. Trace around pipe, tape rolls, popcans, etc.
scribe, punch, string Tie string between the scribe and the punch Tie off the string so that the distance between the punch and the scribe is the required circumference Hold the punch against the metal (hard enough to stop it moving, light enough to let it spin -if you're doing it for the purposes of cutting out the inner hole or finish isn't important then hammer a dent in using said punch) and draw your circle
