FLINT, MI – Final numbers from the FBI show Flint as the most violent city in America for the third consecutive year, but officials said violent crime is down so far this year.
Flint had more than 2,700 violent crimes in 2012, the most per capita in cities with more than 100,000 people, according to statistics.
In all, Flint finished the year with 63 homicides, 108 rapes, 673 robberies and 1,930 aggravated assaults, the FBI numbers show.
The city had 67 homicides, but the FBI does not count justifiable or accidental shootings.
But city officials are optimistic that next year's report will tell a better story
Flint emergency manager Michael Brown said last week that Flint has seen a 24 percent reduction in violent in Flint in the first six months of this year.
Brown could not be reached for comment on Monday, Sept. 16, but acknowledged last week that the declines this year may mean little to those impacted by crime.

“When you have 8-year-old children getting murdered the way we’ve had, there’s no way to couch that things are getting better,” Brown told The Flint Journal on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Flint Police Chief Alvern Lock could not be reached for comment.
Detroit is #2 with 600 less crimes per capita. I have a friend that lives there and he keeps a shotgun in the same room as him at all times, they'll just straight run in a house and ransack it, knock on the front door and run in the back.
michigan is a shithole
On the coasts its fucking beautiful, it's a shame that two really rotten apples (Flint, Detroit) ruin the whole image of the state.

Flint?!
That' catches me off guard.
Honestly Flint isn't all bad. Half of it is just a normal city, then half of it is straight up gangland. The nice half though is perfectly normal though. You can go to the movies, go out to dinner, or grocery shopping like you could in any town. Then there's the half of the city where driver's ed teachers wear bullet proof vests and have a full set of controls(not just brake pedals).

My cousin lives in Kalamazoo, MI.
It's pretty much the opposite of Detroit or Flint. Nice suburban neighborhoods, decent school district, really nice place. It's no more different in any other state; where I live, it only takes a fifteen minute drive to go straight from the nicest little town you could find to the middle of the ghetto.

The western side of the state is doing well. South eastern michigan for the most part is just starting to fall apart. Anything south of midland and east of Lansing is struggling. Flint isn't all bad I work close to downtown and although I always bring my gun with me I have yet to actually feel the need to ever use it..there are a lot of shootings though and it's sad because it doesn't get near enough revenue to cover the type of police presence they need. Not surprised to see it top the list again.
I'm not so suprised about this due to personal experiances... family wise.
Excluding Flint, Detroit and Saginaw, Michigan is a great place to live. Don't h8.

Lmfao lake Michigan is so big you can't. See across it let alone down, this is what an average sunset looks like on my town (BTW manistee, which is just north of me, has some of the best star gazing in the country).

-nevermind-
I live like a city or two away.
My city is literally like, almost THE safest city I've ever heard of, the only crime I ever hear about here is smoking weed.
Crime is weird.
My grandma inherited this really old beach house right on the beach of Lake Michigan in Manistee. We go there every summer and it's a pretty nice place. No crime or anything, but that's probably because the town is full of old people.

Beautiful state. I've spent years going to the beach on lake Michigan, since the year I was born. Sad to see so much of it go to shit.
I have a friend that...
Oh boy.
My family is from upper Michigan and it's absolutely breathtaking. Most of Michigan is awesome, scenery wise and living wise.

I didn't choose the Flint life
The Flint life chose me
I took this picture while I was driving through Flint the other day. Nice place! Friendly people, they really don't let the city's collapse into anarchy get them down.

Lol manistee is 15 minutes away from me you better watch your ass
I live in Howell and it's a great area.
I'm planning on attending Kettering university after I'm done with my senior year of high school. My brother went there and gave me some advice if I decide to rent a house.
-Become friends with the thugs/robbers so they skip over your house when breaking in.
-Bring your guns.
-Jog with nothing but shorts and a t-shirt.

Where are you? Ludington? That's around 30 minutes away isn't it.
In my experience the Manistee hasn't been doing well recently, looks pretty downtrodden the last time I was up there.
Yeah you're right on the money. Ludington does better because our economy is based on factories and in the summer we have many tourists come up from Chicago and spend money. In the winter on new years, we have a ball drop that's pretty cool a lot of people go and all the bars are packed, I know they advertise that outside of Grand rapids, so I know they're trying to attract tourism from inside Michigan as well. Manistee has a nicer beach, but for some reason it's not as hot of a tourist spot as ludington. My family has been coming up here for vacations for generations.
