Well I have this anatomy homework where I have to sketchout a work in progress for tomorrow's class, needs to consist of multiple figures by each other, I chose a vampire setting... [img_thumb]http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7974/draft1w.png[/img_thumb] Here's what I have so far, any critiques would be cool, I'll add the completed piece when I'm done, alongside a video time lapse of the drawing. Update: [img_thumb]http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/3756/draft2.png[/img_thumb] Here's the next update [img_thumb]http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1720/draft22.png[/img_thumb] New update, planning on smoothing out brush strokes, fixing up some more anatomy issues, and adding in a background.. Any preference as to what kind of background would suit this piece more? I'm feeling either an underground sewer with pipes n such or maybe a foresty with a train in the background or something.
Well anatomy wise the upper leg (thigh?) of the gal on the left seems too big.
Thank god they aren't sparkling. Looks good. Thighs look doubly good.
Alright thanks for the feedback, I worked up a bit on the thighs, I believe they were too tall.. @Applecrap, well fuck yeah they ain't sparkly, the Title is: *Vampire poses, not Faggot poses. Still a work in progress, I've got till next week to get this done, any more suggestions while I continue?
What kind of vampires are they? the blood sucking kind or literacy sucking kind? [editline]04:56PM[/editline] Sorry, just had to make that joke.
@Applecrap, well fuck yeah they ain't sparkly, the Title is: *Vampire poses, not Faggot poses.
This is why i love the internet.
I don't know much about anatonomy, but it looks somewhat right to me, and awesome choice of colors / brushes. Only think that I feel like doesn't fit, is the blood.
The girls seem pretty much fine now, the dude has some problems though: breast area is too big, right hand-wrist area is weird and the lower left arm is way too muscular
The guy is a little off around the torso, especially near the ribs. I don't know, it seems a little thick/large in proportion to his hips and shoulders. His shoulders also seem a little narrow compared to the female's shoulders. Male figures have much larger, broader shoulders and less elegant angles than females. Also, does he have a beer-belly? Try smoothing that out too. Sometimes in really muscular males, the ribs are a little prominent with narrower hips. And I don't know if it's just the angle but the standing female's chest looks a little weird. Her breasts are too high, possibly, which gives her way too many ribs. But I really like it, especially the brush choices and the shading.
Just a question, are you drawing this digitally? If so, what program are you using to draw?
Really cool shading, though the background has artifacts and is pixelated
Thanks for the comments guys, I finally managed to snag some time to work on this, it's due this morning, I need some sleep now lol. I took most of your inputs into consideration and some of my friends as well.. This is the result, around 7 ish hours , of work in total.

These are very good, you have a fantastic understanding of the human anatomy, and yes thank god that they are not sparkling
naked people are all the rage. woops! didn't mean to bump this thread, was looking through the group section and happened upon this, thought it stayed in the group section for some reason. Anyways, true, what's your process in your new digital paintings? they have a really different style.
lol k00ls, it would be kind hard to explain the whole process, simply I guess I started just drawing/painting in black and white, getting values down and a good and balanced composition with brights and darks. Then When I feel it's looking like it has a nice value composition, I start splashing in color tones everywhere, local color tones and temperature color tones. I'm going to be posting a video capture of one of my newer paintings sooner or later though, so that should be easier to learn from I guess. :p Anyways, here's a small update on the painting. Planning on smoothing out some brush strokes (got a little too squiggly in some places :S) and adding in a background later. Also fixing the lying down girls tits, should be a bit flatter I just noticed.
Boobies!
Dost thou just useth the default brushethththths?
Always, fiddling around with the brush engine using the default brushes can give you a very dynamic range of brush sets.
The pic is fantastic. If you are still looking for a background I'd say a class of schoolchildren. To make an image hit hard to have to defile something pure. Draw them cowering in the corner and make the victim the teacher. Just an idea.
Thanks, also that's an awesome idea, something like that is what I'm looking for, although, I was originally intending for this to not be a public piece, as in, they are dining together alone or something along those lines. Being in a classroom will kind of remove that atmosphere of being in private and enjoying a meal with each other. I'm thinking of a way to incorporate your idea into what i'm looking for, the shock value works great for the subject matter of vampires.

You'd just need to find a way to make it visible that they are trapped there, rather than just being there for no reason.
Yeah I was thinking of something like that, just need to find time to work on this..
I guess the gal couldn't make it so she got replaced with her transvestite pal Joe (manly face, no hair (ME NO LIKE)).
