Republican senators urge Congress to revisit bill to protect Mueller
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Congress should revisit proposed legislation to protect special counsel Robert Mueller after President Donald Trump tried to fire him last year while he investigated the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia, two Republican senators said on Sunday.
In separate television interviews, Senators Susan Collins and Lindsey Graham expressed dismay at reports the Republican president had told the top White House lawyer to order U.S. Justice Department officials to fire Mueller.
“I’ve got legislation protecting Mr. Mueller, and I’d be glad to pass it tomorrow,” Graham told the ABC News “This Week” program.
On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Collins said: “It certainly wouldn’t hurt to put that extra safeguard in place, given the latest stories.”
Tensions over Mueller’s probe are hovering over Trump’s year-old presidency as he prepares to give his first State of the Union Address on Tuesday.
The GOP leadership absolutely does not want to protect Mueller. Paul Ryan may well be swept up in this in the end given reports and witnesses have stated he knew Trump was in bed with Russia and tried to hide it.

I think this explains why so many people get confused about the GOP calling themselves the party of "family values" while standing idly as Trump bangs porn stars, sexually assaults people, dogwhistles, etc.
When Paul Ryan says "Keep it secret; this is how you know we are a family", it turns out that those are the "family values" that the GOP are referring to. :v:
the congressional majority leaders have way too much power to kill things outright by refusing to schedule anything. Give the damn thing a vote already
Paul Ryan should be one of the first against the wall.

No, don't kill them. Put them in prison with a nice big TV showing them how much better the world is without their politics.
so who wants to bet that they'll continue to be "deeply concerned" after trump fires rosenstein and mueller
(and continue to vote 51-49 watch fox news god bless america)

If I understood this correctly these two republicans want to protect Mueller while the rest of their party don't, correct?

Personally I'd prefer to see the lot of them rot in jail for the rest of their lives and not only see their shitty legacies crumble into nothing but watch as they go down in history as traitors to the American people.

as lovely as this sounds, the next president will pardon them, if trump doesn't on the way out. Contrary to popular belief, a pardon is not an admission of crime, only a waver of prosecution and punishment from the government.
The penalty for treason, when I searched for it, is death. If anyone from this is guilty of treason, is it "advocating murder" to want them to be punished by the justice system?
Genuinely asking

Yeah, I don't get the bans. It's not advocating murder, it's advocating the death penalty in accordance with the laws of a nation.
Nobody has been convicted or even charged yet.
So talking about the penalty they'd receive if they're convicted isn't okay because they haven't been convicted yet?
Nobody has been convicted or even charged yet.
There have been 4 Trump aides charged of various crimes.
I totally forgot about Manafort and Gates lol. Who are the other two?
Page and Papdapolous

Ya but only the rosenburgs ever got the death penalty and that was very begrudgingly. Spies and traitors are better in jail where you can flip them.

In some countries, treason is indeed punishable with death.
Only in times of war, though
EDIT
A quick search in wiki shows that, as far as the US Constitution is concerned, treason can only be recognized as such in times of war.

Pink, you're not well. Go back to the hotel. They sent along a surrogate band to find out where your fans stand. Go get some sleep.
Y'know, has there been a moment in the Obama administration where we were ever seriously debating treason charges?
Crimney, what a mess.
[Edited. While a joke, it would've likely put me on a list...]

We all know that if these people are thrown in jail this country will likely see some of the greatest chaos and unrest it's probably ever seen since the Civil War, right? You can't just throw half of the most powerful people in the country, and world, into jail and expect everything to be roses and utopia afterwards. And even if Trump, and Ryan are somehow found guilty of treason, theres no shot this justice system will execute Donald Fucking Trump. I hate the guy as much as the rest of this forum, but you have to acknowledge how ridiculous of an outcome that is.
