I was sorta sceptical looking at the stills but the style actually works a lot better when you see it moving
They've found the balance between the uncanny valley and being too stylised to fit in

Looks funny. Light hearted humor for kids and a little bit for adults.
I'll admit it looks....okay. You can't top the first movie or any of the episodes before that, of course, but it doesn't seem as awful as a lot of the recent episodes.

the part on land don't look good, when animated characters run around in real environments its a bit cringy. Rest looks good and slash is in the movie so fuck yeah

As a diehard SpongeBob fan and one of those damn kids who insists "no episode after the movie was good..."
...this actually looks pretty good. Not great, but I definitely chuckled at a couple parts.
I just realized something kinda odd and not directly related to the movie.
So, the characters Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy both live underwater- and appear to be the same size as the rest of the cast (Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy). Yet, when the cast reaches the shore in this movie, they're very miniature.
Maybe Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy had an incident with the Mini Option on his belt (aside from the one we saw in that one episode) which caused them to permanently be that size, and unable to live a normal life on land. Or perhaps they chose to be the guardians of Bikini Bottom that they once were, and saw it fit to shrink themselves to that size.
