Trade publication MCV has revealed that the release of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD has caused a 685% increase in Wii U console sales in the United Kingdom — however, it's not been revealed exactly how many units that jump entails.
[editline]13th October 2013[/editline] http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/10/zelda_wind_waker_hd_release_triggers_685_percent_increase_in_uk_wii_u_hardware_sales
They deserve it goddammit
I know that this also pushed several units in the states as well since the Walmart I work at sold the 3 limited edition Zelda Wii U's that they had in stock.
I know UK loves them some Nintendo, but I'm curious bout the US sales too. I'd totally get WW HD when I get the Wii U
Well, that's certainly a boon for Nintendo.
buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
I wouldn't get too excited...the same thing happened months ago. It could still mean it's selling horribly and that the increase was very minimal.
Wind Waker HD is a big reason as to why I want a Wii U. (The other biggest part being the newest Smash Bros.) If only I could spare the money to buy one. [editline]12th October 2013[/editline] I never got to play original Wind Waker.
I was gonna buy it for Smash so I figured I just buy it now, I love it
685 sales still isn't a lot. damn, people can't take a joke.
buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
No really and it's more a re-release than a remake.
Bought my Zelda Wii U for the Wonderful 101 and the HD Remake. Wonderful 101 is in my top five for the year.
The news backs up Nintendo's stance that games are vital to the success of any system,
Does this really need to be said?
I guess they are wiining.
this kinda is an argument why console exclusivity does work.... [editline]12th October 2013[/editline] also HOLYSHIT ITS A TRIFORCE ON THE CONTROLER!!!!
Hopefully these past few hard months are coming to an end.
buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
I'm pretty sure they saw this as an opportune time to buy a Wii U cause even though it contains an HD remake of an already amazing game, there'll be more great Wii U games coming this holiday season.
Does this really need to be said?
well the xbox one has a strong slant towards being an entertainment system instead of a gaming console
no, this can't be happening, nintendo is doomed right guys? just like last time?
Happy to see this happening! More system sales means more third party support. I've had my Wii U since March before last month I had a grand total of two retail games on it and like three downloaded titles. Hopefully next year will be better for the Wii U what with the "friend to all indies" stance they're taking and the recent boosts in hardware sales.
Glad games are finally coming out for the Wii U. That launch drought was so painful
I can't recall the exact numbers, but I think it went from something silly like 1.3k to 8k it's still really great but when you see huge percentages in headlines warning bells should immediately be going off in your head
Glad games are finally coming out for the Wii U. That launch drought was so painful
I'm not gonna get too excited until we start getting some proper 3rd party support. Save Rayman Legends, all of my Wii U games right now are either first or second party. I wanna be able to hold the Gamepad's features over other people's heads, dangit.
If a HD remake boosts sales that much, imagine what smash bros is gonna do for the console next year
No really and it's more a re-release than a remake.
I've noticed the word remake is never used correctly when it comes to games, just like the word upscale. Seems like they never will be.
My brother bought the Wii U because of the zelda controller that comes with the copy of Wind Waker in a limited edition Wii U Wind Waker box.

Impressive, but I'm still going to wait for more third party support.
gee i wish i could get this in austraila unfortunately nintendo of australia are pretty much retarded. we don't even get the announced price cut
From what I've heard, there were places that were selling Wii Us like super cheap regardless. Sucks about the no limited edition though.
buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
I did it for Persona 4 Golden. If my younger brother didn't own Wii U, I would have done it for Wind Waker HD.
