After a blockbuster 2013, the digital currency tumbled throughout 2014 on negative headlines, such as the February 2014 bankruptcy filing of Mt. Gox, a Tokyo-based Bitcoin exchange. Since then, the currency has been bouncing back and forth between $200 and $300. That is, until now. Bitcoin has embarked on a seven-week winning streak, the longest since November 2013, according to Bloomberg data. Industry experts and insiders have a range of reasons for the recent surge.
Buy! Buy! Buy! Oh and prepare to sell sell sell before they crash again. Penny sto-, err, rand paul's magic fun-,err. buttco-,err, bitcoins sure are fun.
Well, the Economist, which is a well read publication in certain spheres, put an article out about the blockchain including some information that might cause certain players to start buying. How long the surge lasts, though, remains to be seen.
How about Dogecoin?
How about Dogecoin?
Dog shit, always has been, always will be. Why bother with an altcoin based on some dumb meme?
Dog shit, always has been, always will be. Why bother with an altcoin based on some dumb meme?
b-b-but muh jamaican bobsleds... (User was banned for this post ("Memeshit" - Big Dumb American))
Looks like it's that time of the year again.
A friend made 800 dollars from selling his bitcoins today. I will never understand this magical yet arbitrarily valued currency.
up Up UP!
Dog shit, always has been, always will be. Why bother with an altcoin based on some dumb meme?
Has Bitcoin ever sponsored a Nascar team? While Bitcoin is constantly going up and down, Dogecoin is focused on only going left.
Also it couldn't be more obvious why people care about bitcoin when the only news coverage it gets is when it trades for more money. For a revolutionary crypto-currency it sure does look like something people only speculate with.
Its impossible to mine coins now anyway, that's why they are rising because they've become a rare thing.

Compared to the full-fledged "Dogecar", that's pretty sad.
I made $100 off this surge, time to go buy 20 grams of magic mushrooms.
Dog shit, always has been, always will be. Why bother with an altcoin based on some dumb meme?
Wait, which is the dumb meme: doge, or bitcoin?
b-b-but muh jamaican bobsleds...
and nascar
Dog shit, always has been, always will be. Why bother with an altcoin based on some dumb meme?
Dogecoin made me the most money out of all the cryptos, dank memes have a place in my heart I still have 500k doge
Dog shit, always has been, always will be. Why bother with an altcoin based on some dumb meme?
Because it's based on an algorithm that doesn't allow asshats who buy ten thousand dollar chips made specifically for mining to mine easily. I mean, I guess you could say the same for Litecoin but it doesn't have those dank memes.
Getting to the point where im considering just buying some when it drops again and keeping it in the off chance the value explodes for no reason like last time. [editline]5th November 2015[/editline] for that matter, with mtgox dead what does everyone use to trade on these days?
Probably because unicode added the bitcoin symbol recently Pretty big step in recognition as far as I'm aware
Also it couldn't be more obvious why people care about bitcoin when the only news coverage it gets is when it trades for more money. For a revolutionary crypto-currency it sure does look like something people only speculate with.
Some countries where the official currency has lost a lot of value or is incredibly volatile (venezuela, north korea, the islamic state, etc) has seen bitcoin being sporadically used in lieu of other currencies when it's difficult to acquire dollars for instance.

GPU mining is still sort of powerful provided you're using anything AMD or a Maxwell-based NVIDIA GPU (since apparently Maxwell has made quite some gains in raw compute performance compared to Fermi and Kepler), but not terribly profitable (think the state of Bitcoin in 2012 when people were using 7970s CFXed). There is one altcoin whose mission is pretty much "FUCK OFF ASICs", and that'd be Vertcoin. Hell, they even went as far as to do a hard fork to use the lyra2re algorithm since they're so committed to their boycott against ASICs no matter the cost.

A friend of mine noticed the trend a month ago and decided to invest in it. Invested $6000 and walked away with $11,000. I should have listened to him and followed.
Ah, Bitcoin. Where I made $30000 from nothing and lost everything through 1 error. Not even mad about it though, as it was more of an experiment and I didn't invest anything except a few energy hours
36p from 0.15 ish

I remember when I posted something about how bitcoin was garbage a couple years ago and got chewed out for it. Boy do times change.
