• Loyal Golden Retriever Stayed with Her Owner Until the End
Parley “Nick” Nichols took his deceased wife’s golden retriever, Lady, everywhere. “That was his Lady,” said Mary Nichols, Nick’s daughter-in-law. Lady rode with him in his black Lincoln Town Car like she was riding in a limousine, she said, smiling at the thought. The 81-year-old man was found dead in a swampy area about a mile from his home more than a week after he had been missing. The dog remained faithful, still by his side. A day after the discovery, family members said they were not surprised by Lady’s loyalty. “She didn’t move; she wouldn’t even come to us. It was almost like she was still protecting him,” said Nick’s son, Terry Nichols.
Source Reminds me of Fry's dog. :sigh:

Man these are those things that make life beautiful.
Man I thought the golden retriever would have dogged it's owner.
Makes me think of the dog in Gran Torino.
Awww! What a great dog, think, if he'd of been missing a week, that dog must of been by his side, possibly without food and water, for around a week.
Poor dog.
:saddowns:
Man I thought the golden retriever would have dogged it's owner.
No puns in this news.
Oh god I think I'm going to cry
That's quite a heart touching story.
I feel pretty fucking depressed now. :(
Is the dog still alive?
And this is why dogs are better then cats, goldens are a great breed.
Such a nice dog :frown:
At least cats don't rip off your 3 month-old sons diaper off and chew off his testicles. :downs:
Instead they rip his face off with their claws then leave a hairball behind. :downs:

This shows that dogs really are man's best friend. Cats are too though.
...You people do realise someone died, right?
Cats and dogs were always more important than people on the Internet.
I love golden retrievers, it's something with their size. Cute but not small, aww. This story just makes me think "dogs are humans best friend" again.
I thought for sure this was going to be another story about how the dog ate the owner after he died. Goldens are some of the best dogs out there. Super loyal.
Cats and dogs were always more important than people on the Internet.
People die all the time, extraordinary behaviour by animals is less common a sight. Someone is dying right now. [editline]07:43PM[/editline] Whoop, there goes another one. [editline]07:44PM[/editline] And one more. [editline]07:45PM[/editline] It never ends.

Things like this are built into animals, its their nature - like our human nature, so it is not uncommon.
You could say, it doggedly protected him.
At least cats don't rip off your 3 month-old sons diaper off and chew off his testicles. :downs:
My grandparents cats knocked him down and scratched my defenseless grandpa until my grandmother came home, he wiped their asses and they do that to him.
I'm pretty sure this is a normal thing for dogs to do, I wouldn't say it's newsworthy. Some old man died out on a walk and you're all congratulating the dog on being dog-like. It's been happening for years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyfriars_Bobby
