I don't think they knew Kitty0706 was dead but that's still kinda fucked up.
They have to be major assholes to do that.
Probably just automatic bullshit with no human involvement whatsoever.
They have to be major assholes to do that.
They probably didn't know. Even if they did, copyrights are still copyrights.
They did it because his views spiked with his death and they couldn't stand the idea of someone else making a shred of money off a video with their music in it. They didn't bother doing any research on the guy.
Isn't this the same company that had a bunch of Japanese music blocked in the US because of Youtube RED disallowing it or something like that?
Shit, anyone have a backup of it, and the rest of his videos?
Just watch it with a Canadian Proxy or w/e if you're that keen on seeing it again.

Absolutely despicable. Nothing can really be done about it though. Whether or not it was automated, its still a very shit move overall let alone how it disrespects this now deceased person, his work, and his remnant fanbase. Rest in peace Colin Wyckoff; even if its really late to say this and you're likely rolling in your grave right now, we're still with you.
his vids were so popular I'm sure there's mirrors and probably going to be en mass re-uploads anyway.
Why would the fact that he's dead make a difference? And if it wasn't an automated system (it almost certainly was) why would they bother looking up the youtuber first to check if they died or something else? They don't care, they just want to get the video taken off. No disrespect to the guy intended, I don't even know anything about his videos, but you guys are expecting way too much of a system and precedent that has proven it doesn't give a shit under any circumstance. Thinking this would be an exception is kind of naive.
Probably just automatic bullshit with no human involvement whatsoever.
Didn't Jim Sterling say you can break that by putting as much copyrighted stuff in your video as possible?
Didn't Jim Sterling say you can break that by putting as much copyrighted stuff in your video as possible?
You can stop another party from monitizing your video by putting in multiple different works inside your video. Like if you have footage from Zelda and Mass Effect neither Nintendo or EA will monitize the video for themselves since that'd piss off the other party. It wouldn't effect someone pulling or blocking the video.
Didn't Jim Sterling say you can break that by putting as much copyrighted stuff in your video as possible?
I'm going to try that on my alt
Didn't Jim Sterling say you can break that by putting as much copyrighted stuff in your video as possible?
oh god so if i make a potpourri of ripped sources they're pretty much stuck in a headlock brilliant just steal all the content so they don't know what to do anymore

[editline]28th June 2016[/editline] Maybe we should just never claim content on the off chance the person could be dead Like it's likely a false claim regardless, but how could they have known?
idk it doesn't matter if he's dead or not, if the content is infringing the companies copyright they're not just gona stop and go "oh better make sure this guys not dead" the videos still profiting from someones copyrighted work, dead or alive
...they couldn't stand the idea of someone else making a shred of money off a video with their music in it
it's almost as if they don't just let people break copyright law for one video because theyre dead, they don't care if you're dead or alive, it's not their job to check if you're dead or alive. how is this a surprise to anyone
Pepper;50612960']IIRC, he wasn't a partner, he made nothing off of these.
even if you're not a YouTube partner or running your own ads on videos, advertisements are still present and revenue is still being generated for YouTube
