CNBC‘s David Faber this evening tweeted that multiple unnamed sources have indicated to him that Comcast (CMCSA) will announce tomorrow a deal to purchase Time Warner Cable (TWC) for $159 per share, in an all-stock deal.
With 277.9 million Time Warner Cable shares outstanding, the deal would have a market value of $$44.2 billion. With Time Warner Cable stock closing up in today’s session at $135.31, up 41 cents, the deal would offer TWC holders a nearly 18% premium.
Comcast is apparently willing to divest three million subscribers to satisfy any regularity issues about the deal, Faber subsequently tweeted, and he wrote in a subsequent bit, “Comcast deal for $TWC does not face ownership cap restrictions, but sure to get tough review from FCC.$CMCSA wants to avoid consent decree.”
The deal would end months of speculation that had involved scenarios about Charter Communications (CHTR) buying all or part of Time Warner Cable, or possibly partnering with Comcast.
Yay, even less competition than we have now.
no no no no no no no please no please
There's no goddamn way this is going to pass regulatory approval unless there are a number of briefcases of cash finding their way from one hand to another.
[sp]Briefcases of cash are going to move across tables and this is probably going to happen, I fear.[/sp]
As long as I don't keep put on a fucking data cap whatever
come to att u-verse
besides the 250GB monthly cap it's very stable internet
well, they advertise that there is a cap but i'm pretty sure i've gone over it and they didn't say anything

Stable my ass, we constantly have to call them out here to fix the Internet and every time they come up with a different excuse to charge us for it. But it's either that or com cast (boy monopoly sure is fun.)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Comcast bought out our local broadband cable provider a few years back. We've had to deal with their shirts business practices ever since. Best of luck to those that have time warner. As soon as the local fiber provider gets coverage in our area, we're jumping ship.
Holy shit no, TWC you better say no or I'm leaving this service in the fastest nope way possible.
As a current TWC customer, I don't see how they could possibly get any worse, so I'm not too worried.
thank god i'll prolly just be moving to austin soon to get in on that google fiber business
I live 20 minutes outside Austin and TWC is the only provider I can get.
FUCK

at&t has always offered free home repair services for me, that is very odd.
also, the cable between your house and the road may be damaged, i had similar issues and att had to replace mine (for free)
Time Warner Cable is great where i live. No problems. But i hear from everyone that Comcast is awful and this scares me a little.
Yeesh, such monopolies on American internet providers are direly terrible since they think they can rest on their laurels.

I don't know why people say it's the worst, the last problems we've ever had were about nearly 3 years ago, where I live.
Time Warner Cable is great where i live. No problems. But i hear from everyone that Comcast is awful and this scares me a little.
I have TWC and my connection constantly gets throttled for no fucking reason.
As a current TWC customer, I don't see how they could possibly get any worse, so I'm not too worried.
Comcast has bandwidth caps, last I heard.

Hey me too! Inbetween Dripping Springs and Austin. It's sad :(
lol feels good to not get shafted by every internet provider in my country.
Dear lord no. I have bad internet as it is. I don't need a cap on it. Wait Road runner is the same as Time Warner right?
no no no no no no no please no please
this is actually kinda good, the FCC won't allow this though, when we had comcast in my area they were much better than time-to-fuck-you warner, its kind of stupid how they are able to just buy out areas from each other without actually having to compete. they will have to honor time warner's contracts though, so no data caps until those contracts expire.
[editline]12th February 2014[/editline]
you guys know what else was prohibitively expensive to build out?
the phone network, the power grid, the trans-continental railroad, the interstate system hell even the fucking st. laurance seaway was considered at the time "too risky" yet someone took the plunge and changed the face of their industry. fucking ISPs need a kick in the head by the FCC, but somehow the FCC doesn't have the authority or the leadership to do anything anymore
Time Warner is gonna get worse..
Hurrah!
A bigger turd, absorbing the smaller one.
No no no no
TW you suck but not as much as Comcast.
Comcast has bandwidth caps, last I heard.
Used to be 250GB a month, now it's 300GB - 600GB, depending on your location and plan.
Local company gets bought by TWC, now they're going to get bought by an even bigger company.
GG.
I really hope there's intervention in this.
They're literally going to make it so there's only 3 major ISP's and less options holy fuck.
The shit singularity has reached critical mass
Stable my ass, we constantly have to call them out here to fix the Internet and every time they come up with a different excuse to charge us for it. But it's either that or com cast (boy monopoly sure is fun.)
yeah and when I had att I had to restart my router literally 5 times, every single day
