I was driving down the streets in the middle of night, and I see a little animal on the side of the concrete path. As I drive closer to the animal I discover that it's a cat. I assumed that it was a stray because it was seemingly abandoned by the side of the road.
I went to go and drive over the little bastard when suddenly a kid on the path starts waving me down. The cat got scared and just ran in the middle of the road, making it easier for me. I was going over the speed limit and was just about a couple of metres away from the cat and then the cat just stayed in the same spot. I floored it trying to speed past before the kid got in the way, didn't want to risk damaging my car. The kid then jumps out, I scream "Fuck!", I floor the brake and...
It wasn't enough. I hit him. I was truly terrified at this point.
Why would this kid jump in front of a speeding car? I only wanted to put the cat out of his misery.. but not damage my car...
I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, so my head cracked against the wind shield.
Luckily - my car survived. So did the cat. :argh:
He gets up and and I start screaming at him, saying that "What are you doing, trying to commit suicide?", He tells me that he was just trying to prevent the cat from being run over. Then, a woman and a man step out of a house, who were the owners of the cat.
The kid got up and told them what had happened. I was upset that the cat was okay, but hey, at least I wasn't sued, right? They offered the kid $1000 for doing such a life-threatning thing, but he refused to take the money.
Now - I know what you're thinking.
"Gee SuperLoz - you were the one doing the nice thing, the kid was just stupid!"
I would agree! You don't reward stupidity like that, I said. I then asked if I could have the money - for my head injuries. They ignored me.
I soon found out that the cat's name was "AJ", which is 'Ouch' in Sweden.
TL;DR
I really couldn't watch my car get damaged, I had to risk my life to save it.
I do not regret a thing.
