Recently I went to a store in Wisconsin called the "UW - Swap" store. Basically there's tons of cool stuff there for really cheap that the University of Wisconsin (Madison), has gotten rid of and is sold for really cheap there. I stumbled upon a gigantic looking lens, which looks like this: Googled it while I was there, and apparently it sells for 2000-3500 dollars. I bought it for merely 20 bucks. Of course I didn't put it up for that much, only $1300. But, in the end I just made $1280 dollars. I was wondering if any of you have ever found something and realized the sheer amount of worth a weird item could be?
I bought a watch for 2$ and sold it for 200 does that count?
The original Disney movie tapes.
I bought the Thriller LP from Goodwill for $.49. I didn't sell it, because that's a steal. However, I know it's worth at least ten times that.
my keyboard is older than most facepunch members but I've seen it go for $200 recently. My monitor is about 12 years old and still goes for $400. I've still got a few hot wheels and matchbox cars from the 70's and 80's too that are worth a fair bit.
This 1956 $10 bill i had on my desk.

[thumb]http://www.compucima.com.ec/images/productos/2006133_1.jpg[/thumb] Apparently these are worth more than they "should" be, my dad won it from some thing like 7 years ago. It's honestly the greatest music player I have ever had, wouldn't sell for few hundred euros.
Apparently old shitty horror movies go for 10 times more then their worth in some places.
My friend bought a Legend of Zelda Happy Meal toy for £2.00 and sold it for £130.
I found an old keyboard lying on the street yesterday. It's an old Cherry G80-3000 with white switches (which are quite rare). Now to fix that goddamn cut off PS/2 cable.
My friend got given a Sennheiser mic by his dad when he was 3, as his dad was a sound engineer and the mic was broken. He's 19 now and works part time as a sound engineer himself and writes music. 16 years later he comes back to the mic, and its working, miraculously. How much was it worth? $1500.
My sister got me a stack of these because I collect coins and bills! She just got them for the blue stamps but when I realized she scored Silver Certificates I got them in cases as soon as possible and locked 'em up. To this day I don't know how much she paid for them. They're in beautiful condition with no tears of creases. There's no way I could possibly thank her for giving these to me just for my collection.
