What do you think about those little devices that go on your windshield and alert you to police speed radars up ahead so you can slow down?
uh they are cool i guess, i assume most young people buy them, i plan on getting one probably
I would love to get one even though I never speed in the realm of reckless. Unfortunately, I live in Virginia where they are illegal in every vehicle and in the case that I get pulled over, I'd rather not fumble to get one into my glovebox or something.
Fit yourself some "parking sensors" and jam the radars instead:

Yes because when a cops radar gun starts acting up they are just gonna say Eh and not think a second thought.
My manager has one fitted, apparently it doesn't throw up any errors on the gun, they just can't get a fix on you. It would give you the chance to slow down enough that when you pass them you'd look fairly normal and they probably wouldn't give you a second look. If you fly past them doing 90mph whilst giving them the finger then they would start asking questions.
They do work asking parking sensors too so if they ever did poke around they might have a hard time proving that you'd use it for scrambling guns, you could quite easily play dumb.
detectors dont help you when a cop rides your ass to see how fast you are going though.
We uses one in every vehicle in our driveway.
Note that the ones we use aren't radar jammers, they're simply detectors. Quite a difference, considering in some states jammers are illegal and detectors aren't. The name of ours slips my mind, but it simply tells you if there's a radar nearby and what direction it's in.
The biggest downside is it picks up EVERY radar, so it'll go off you you so much as drive past a supermarket with automatic doors.
My dads does the same, it's horrible when we drive past an airport. I swear to god it's going to explode right along with our ears.
Not this same unit, but you get the hint. His is a Cobra something.

Ones that have integrated GPS are sick.. like the 9500ix
https://www.escortradar.com/store/passport-9500ix.html
GPS allows a database to be created w/ redlight cams and such, plus allowing it to learn various false signals, like supermarkets and grocery stores.
Then there's laser "shifters" that aid in deflection, basically not allowing a proper lock..
https://www.escortradar.com/store/laser-shifter-zr4.html
And the nifty "integrated" ones that give you a cleaner install than your typical windshield mount
https://www.escortradar.com/qi45/
I've always been a fan of escort.
I never had one of these but I've seen them work on my friends car.
It might be the detector's fault but it seems to always give out false alarms.
they're useless if the local police use laser (many police departments use laser now) instead of radar
you'll basically have no warning at all with laser and once they target you it tells them your speed instantly

This is ours. Damn good thing you can control the volume.
Radar jammers are illegal almost everywhere. Laser jammers are legal in like 47 states or something.
I think some laser jammers work with or have integrated radar detectors.
Radar jammers are stupid. The ones that say they stop the cops radar gun from working and shit, are all lies. Those are gimmicks to get you to buy one.
Now onto why I say they are stupid.
You don't actually get anywhere much faster by speeding. You waste more gas, you have a chance of getting pulled over and paying a huge ticket and you only get to your destination like 30 seconds faster.
I knew a guy who drove between 2 cities weekly which were about 3 to 4 hours apart by highway... So straight shot, no city traffic nothing just open road constant speed.
He bought a radar gun so he could speed and go 85-90 in a 70... Every so often he would still get pulled over since they aren't 100% guaranteed to work and alert you in time or alert you to a cop behind you or anything like that. He then had to pay a huge speeding ticket.
So one day he said fuck it and quit using it and just started driving 70 instead of speeding.
After doing this several times, he realized the different between speeding and going the speed limit literally only saved him about 2 to 3 minutes on average during the 3-4 hour long trip.
Now shrink that trip down to what most people drive, a 30 minute trip or anything shorter and you are only saving 30 seconds maybe.
Some people don't speed for economical reasons lol

You're not our daddy, we don't need to be told why it's bad to speed.
[editline]17th July 2011[/editline]
We know why it's bad. And it may not get us there quicker, but it gets us there FASTER, Which is FUN. Not my fault they marked the speed limits down when the flow of traffic is still going 30 MPH faster :3
speed limits have been the same for what, like 40 years? Car generally handle better, are more fuel efficient, more aerodynamic, and brake better than automobiles then, so why are the speed limits the same?
On residential and city roads (Generally 45mph and lower) the speed limit is where it should be almost always, but on highways, the speed limit could safely be raised to 80-90mph

That's the parking sensors I posted above, they're laser diffusers so instead of sending an error back to the speed gun it just doesn't receive anything back.

You do have a valid point, so many times I'll bomb it down the motorway and fly past the traffic, at the next traffic jam they all pull up behind or near me but I had more fun getting there, petrol cost isn't the end of the world.
I stay at or below the speed limit mainly for economical reasons but also because it's no fun to speed in a car like mine
if I had a faster car then I would speed once in a while but do it in a safe manner
my brother speeding in his 02 civic
;_; it feels like you are about to leave the road on every bump

Well on my main, 3 lane streets that run the city, 90% of them are 30/35 mph...The flow of traffic is EASILY going a steady, safe, and manageable 50 mph, turnouts for every turn, no one ever needs to slow down except for red lights. So that's when i "Speed", but to be fair it's also so i don't get someone running up my ass, again, the flow is fast. Even cops drive almost 60 on these roads, although that doesn't always really mean anything. Highways i completely agree, all of my 6 or so that run through the city are limited at 55-60 and even lower in "construction" zones (Leftover signs with the limits still posted) but you can safely go 85-90 and barely, slowly pass one or two cars on your way. Why the limits are so low, i really don't know.
gas prices whenever the fuck made the gov decide to lower the speed to like 55 or 60 so people wouldnt use as much gas, never changed the speed signs back

They sure do, this bad boy come with two front shifters and one rear shifter!

Only illegal if they're not installed all nice and hidden like ;)

"Overall, the 9500ci is a bit like the Bugatti Veyron: darn expensive, but if you've got the money to spend, you won't be disappointed"
The system sounds awesome and all, but comparing it to a Bugatti doesn't sound like good advertising, since imo anyone who can afford a Bugatti would be wasting their money

reminds me of these two teenage girls one night. They were in this beatup ford car, sorta like a focus but i couldn't tell. It was at about 8PM. We kept hitting each red light side by side. Then they looked over and saw my car and decided they wanted to race. They would floor it every time it turned green for another 3 or so lights, reving, looking over, etc. So i decided i would. Next green i decided to race back, pulled past them in second and hit 60 (speed limit is 40) at the shift point for 3rd, at which point they were a dot of headlights behind me. Not exactly an accomplishment but felt good man :D
It's more fun to drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow.
It's more fun to hit 90 in my 1970 VW than it is to go the speed limit in a Corvette.
So straight shot, no city traffic nothing just open road constant speed.2 to 3 minutes
If there's no traffic a 4 hour trip going 70mph would be shortened more than 2-3 minutes if you held a greater average speed of 85-90mph.
Just.
Saying.
