Yousee (formerly known as TDC) wich is the biggest internet provider in Denmark, has started putting a 200 GB / month limit on 30 Mbit connections and faster.
Luckily there is other big internet providers in Denmark but Yousee has the biggest part of the market, so this move is worrying.
I just hope it dosn't spread to the other big internet providers.
The end is nigh.
No no no no no no no.
NO.
This isn't fucking happening.
This better not spread to Norway.
OH FUCK NO
I hope this shit doesn't spread to Sweden, here we have 3G internet with no download cap.
God fucking damn it. You cock juggling thundercunts.

Don't worry bros we will stand together and fight the evil internet overlords as vikings!
Not so smug now, are you?
Well, one more country to cross of the list of nations to flee to when the CRTC inevitably puts in the caps they want.
Is Norway still safe?
Like I said in some other thread, I pay 70 euros a month for cable tv, home phone with unlimited calls between home pones, and 50mb internet with no data cap. Dont you guys have fiber optics over there? We get a max of 200mb here in Portugal.
Dear the world.
FUCKING STOP DOING THIS.
Thanks.

As of now, yes.
Why, why and WHY?!
It's not like a gigabyte costs a single cent for them. Profitwhoring assholes.
Shit, I'm glad I don't have a data cap...
yet
Fucking shit. This better not spread to Sweden.
Still, 50mbit is really fucking fast compared to my semi-lousy 24mbit.
I do not download 200GBs per month but still, data caps are bullshit.
UK ISPs have had data caps forever, I have the unlimited option though.
Kickass.
Haha, not too long ago some Scandinavian FPers were gloating about their service in the other cap threads. They totally had this coming, everyone else doesn't though.
Please don't come to the Baltic states ! Anything but that !
No. Just no.
Surely this can't apply to costumers who already have a proper plan with them, can it? :(
We had something similar in Norway 'bout 6 years ago, with the company Telenor. But they removed it.

The data caps is only for plans with Yousee and 30 Mbit or faster. Chances are if you allready have a plan that you have a slower connection and dosnt have the datacap.

Well alright a couple of things:
The CRTC is involved in usage based billing, which is different than usage caps
Most ISPs in Canada already have usage caps
The CRTC doesn't have the balls to let ISPs go forward with UBB, and if they do have the balls they will promptly be cut off

Whelp, time to bust out the shovel and backhoe, and dig a ½km trench for a fiber connection to the nearest fiber terminal.
And hold some bigshot from Altibox hostage, until they hook me up.
Or just smash my old & wrecked, but still running car through the YouSee HQ.
UK ISPs have had data caps forever, I have the unlimited option though.
Kickass.
Yeah, "unlimited". 30GB on peak and 300gb off peak does me fine, athough I'm on a 1.5mbps connection and if it was 30 I would hit them pretty quickly were I not careful.
I don't understand it, so much content expansion lately be it streaming movies, music or even games yet they are putting caps on now?
I never really got the logic in data caps. Seems like a massive money grab to me and ISPs don't want you to know that and they bullshit you about how it costs a fortune to send extra data etc etc. They can fuck right off. It doesn't cost 10$ to send an extra 10 GB of data. My Dad works for a telecommunications company and installs fiber optic and T1/T3 lines to various businesses as well as domestic lines. Over the years of picking up certain things about his job I can tell you that what they tell you about data caps are complete bullshit. Not that maintaining the network equipment and hardware isn't expensive, as it is very fragile too, which is why internet isn't free. But when it comes down to using extra data it literally has zero effect on the costs on the ISPs and if it does cost them more, then your ISP consists of a bunch of greedy fucks that are too lazy to upgrade their shitty network infrastructure and only exist to pocket your hard earned money.
Pffft, we had download limits before it was cool.
This is going to spread to everywhere. Now that it's acceptable and there's been no considerable public backlash, every ISP will see it as an excuse to save money and not upgrade their networks.
Well, fuck.
Now I hope that those who say Finland isn't a part of Scandinavia are right.
Oh god, nowhere is safe.
