In recent years, the Israeli government and the Druze leadership in Galilee and the Mount Carmel regions have made a coordinated effort to bring about a rapprochement with the Golan Heights Druze. As Assad’s situation worsened and he became involved in horrific massacres, the Golan Druze began to distance themselves from him. These days it’s hard to find a picture of the Syrian president on the walls of restaurants in Majdal Shams (in the Israeli Golan), though until the outbreak of the civil war his portrait was everywhere. The solidarity drive with the Druze in Syria is now being led by the community in Israel proper; the Druze in Majdal Shams and neighboring Buqata generally maintain communications silence.
As panicky reports arrived from Khader, the Israeli political and military leaderships stepped up their efforts to calm the Druze community. Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot stated in the Knesset on Tuesday that Israel will do everything to prevent a massacre of refugees on its border – a statement reiterated the following day by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “I have given instructions for everything necessary to be done,” he added.
It's a long article, but if you're interested you should read the whole thing.

I guess they'll be pushing past the Golan Heights then.
Nothing would make me happier in this conflict- besides total peace of course- than to see ISIS give Israel and excuse to bomb their ass to oblivion.
Druze are now really pissed off.

context: Israel takes in injured people from Syria and gives them medical care. Some are from terrorist organizations like in this video.
Lebanon should take the Druze in from Syria for the time being since the government is very tolerant (being a mix of Muslim, Christian and has a sizable Druze minority)

did you know Lebanon endured one of the most brutal sectarian civil wars in modern history less than 30 years ago and it was caused by a refugee crisis that upset the delicate ethnic/political balance of powers
About time the Israelis did summat besides cause trouble.

yeah that totally means it's a good idea to put into effect a wildly absurd and impractical forced population transfer
also Svinnik don't act like militias aren't still active, there aren't bombings in beirut, and everyone's forgotten about the 150,000 dead in the civil war
I bet you can't even point out Lebanon on a map
Daniel i wrote my undergraduate thesis in modern middle eastern history

just because i didn't like your idea of transplanting all the druze wholesale out of syria into lebanon doesn't mean i'm retarded
grow up

you do realize this movie didn't cover the reason why Israel was in Lebanon in the first place? PLO tried taking over Jordan during the Black September Incident and when they failed, they hid in Lebanon while still trying to piss off Israel. During Operation Wrath of God, Israel actually assassinated a few major PLO leaders in Beirut. The Lebanese were sick of the PLO and Bashir Gemayel (who was democratically elected), agreed to allow Israel to invade to remove the PLO from Lebanon. The reason it became such a shitstorm was because some dumbass killed Bashir Gemayel. Lebanese Christians saw Gemayel as a hero and were outraged when he was killed, leading to massacres and a general shitstorm. The only thing Israel did wrong was to stand by idly during the massacres and Israel's decision to abandon the Christian militias.
idk why you've decided to assume that i drew all my knowledge from this movie but thank you for the lecture, i seem to have remembered something about a kahan commission and peace for galilee giving menachem begin a free hand in the occupied territories and it destroying his political career, i must have misremembered

We weren't talking about Begin's political career or about the Kahan commission, we were talking about the Lebanese civil war? That aside, the Kahan commission was amazing in how they managed to be able to pinpoint responsibly on one of Israel's foremost military geniuses. That took a lot of courage.
