Art Style is awesome but DE can't balance to save the lifes, so.... yeah. Also PVP "collectible" (aka pay to progress) is already done to death frankly.
"F2P hero shooter with cards" I don't think a game could stomp my vague, unsure interest harder even if it tried.
The pastel coloring, hero designs and 60's scifi music are tickling a lot of fancies but if its F2P I already know any sense of consistent art-style is already at high risk.
Cards as parts of your loadout has never worked Paragon is the prime example of it, where early on it just was completely random and horribly imbalanced.

where is this summit where people are told "card games are the thing, everyone make card games", valve announced a card game and I'm already sick of them.
No, I don't like this trend. Hero shooters are already tired (and why play anything else when Overwatch is still kind of the gold standard), card games are already done to death and IMO they're a pretty niche genre to begin with. You guys shoulda just focused your efforts on Warframe, DE. I mean don't get me wrong, genre fusion games can be interesting, but hero shooter + card game + F2P is like the pay to win bullshit trifecta.

I say kind of though, because they're more just cards in appearance, in actuality it's closer to a talent point system. I think it could still work but having the cards be unlockable through mostly RNG pretty much eternally breaks your game if its goal is to be competitive. I've played the alpha, and it plays like a CoD game with tight movement except jumps being a bit floaty, with TF2/Overwatch gunplay. As far as the card game mechanics work, I think it adds in some uniqueness to each character and how somebody might want to play that character. Since it is going to be F2P, there are guaranteed to be microtransactions but is that inherently a bad thing? Microtransactions in Warframe are more about letting yourself get stuff instantly rather than having to grind out for it, and I'm feeling a similar vibe from this game where you can opt to buy packs of cards in order to get all the cards you need/want by paying, rather than playing the game and earning them. I can agree with pessimism seeing that it seems to be just jumping on a bunch of popular ideas, but try and at least give it a chance. Also, I don't like the new name they gave it. Keystone was better.
I really really like the art style, I'm a sucker for the old pulp sci-fi stuff. I hope this is a fun game to play just purely as I like the styling of it.
Can't wait to grind for 5 hours to find a blueprint so I can craft 1/5 components to unlock a character.
DE: we're going to make this cool art style Me: interesting DE: inspired by old sci-fi pulps Me: yes DE: with a hint of atom-punk here and here, and lots of various characters Me: YES DE: and we're going to couple it with the most bland Me: no DE: most unbalanced Me: NO DE: HERO BASED MULTIPLAYER CARD GAME SHOOTER
"F2P hero shooter with cards" I don't think a game could stomp my vague, unsure interest harder even if it tried.
It's actually really fun, I've been playing since closed alpha. Of course, DE is behind it so it's going to be a train wreck for balance, which I can tell you it already is and has been since the alpha.
I played the alpha and the game is 99.9% a shooter first. Cards are nothing more but just an aesthetic choice (Just like Paladins). You could replace the word "card" with pretty much any other word and it would be exactly the same really. [editline]17th August 2017[/editline] Game itself was pretty alright, albeit there weren't that many people playing it.

Ugh, it's such a shame that it's trapped in F2P card game shit, because the character design is fantastic. Like, if they charged 30 bucks for this game (and it was decent) I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Wouldn't say "aesthetic choice".

The game is about as much as a card game as the Battle Network series. [editline]17th August 2017[/editline] Actually as I think about it, the game does remind a bit of the BN series, albeit a PvP FPS instead. :v:
this game felt incredibly clunky to play in when I played early in the alpha, though the card system added a rather interesting way to equip many different weapons and abilities that you get on the fly

Wow that looks utterly boring and unoriginal.
new trailer
this looks very bad - like nothing looks like it has any force or impact to it, and everything looks so fucking janky like, winter's intro is horribly animated, and the fucking muzzleflash on his gun is rigged slightly above the actual muzzle
This game is a lot like Gotham City Imposters. The video is also hilariously scripted with every enemy at like 1-2 shots too :v: the card system was kind of cool, but when I played there was only two classes that were really worth playing after they nerfed one into the ground. It's one of those games where you'll play it and be done with it after one or two play sessions.
new trailer
All of the "cool" situations they try to act out are so bad. Especially the Dread -one where he shoots, slowly walks off, slowly turns and then shoots some static farts.
