A friend of mine wanted me to make this. It's my first real experience with digital painting, I used Gimp and a tablet to draw over a scanned sketch.

It's alright. Not the best.
it's good for a first time but the anatomy is wrong.

Which parts specifically should I be adjusting? I'm still tweaking it from time to time.
:iia:
IT's not a guitar, it's a bass and it's not a wookie, it's hairy fish with arms and legs. It's body is badly misproportioned, seems like it's done by someone who hasn't even heard of proportions before. The legs are flippin' tiny along with left hand, which seems to be small cause it's lacking a thumb.
Body is haired only on arm parts and some legs, elsewhere it's blurred or some shit, aka not hairy. Then there's lighting issues. Somehow, surrounded by a ring of fire, one side of that ring of fire manages to be more bright. Even the bass is misproportioned.
Torso and legs seem to be at a different angle compared to the top of the body. and head... looks like miscoloured oompa-loompa.
Also limbs end on torsoo just randomly. You need far more experience with traditional mediums and you need to follow some tutorials.
But damn :iia:
The proportions are off because I draw cartoons and wasn't going for realism.
The left hand thumb is behind the neck, and I only made the parts hanging down hairy because that's the easiest place to do it, but I could try to make some sharper edges. As for the head, it's supposed to be a mohawk and mutton chops styled out of his fur, but yeah a lot of people seem confused by that.
As for the ring of fire, that's just a placeholder background, the actual image was made for a band and there won't be a background for what they're using it for, I just tacked that on to make it look better for release.

That's like saying the bassists are actually with the band.
Looks like a furry Umpa Lumpa.

Stylisation isn't an excuse to suck. Everything has proportions ot them, even stylised images.
add more contrast between lights and darks on his fur and it'll improve a bunch. Looks like a flat gingerbread man with how it is now.
I actually like the stylization, even if he does look a little 'fishy'.

to be honest I can't tell which proportions are bad, aside from the ones that can be explained by it being a cartoon.
Good for a first try.
