Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) slammed President Trump Tuesday after he signed executive actions to further construction on the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines. Sanders said the executive actions “ignored the voices of millions.” “Today, President Trump ignored the voices of millions and put the short-term profits of the fossil fuel industry ahead of the future of our planet,” Sanders said in a statement. "Millions of people came together all over this country to stop the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines and say we must transform our energy system away from fossil fuels to renewable energy,” Sanders said. Sanders vowed to continue to work to stop the pipelines moving forward. "At a time when the scientific community is virtually unanimous in telling us that climate change is real, it is caused by human activity and it is already causing devastating problems, we cannot afford to build new oil pipelines that lock us into burning fossil fuels for years to come,” Sanders said. “I will do everything I can to stop these pipelines and protect our planet for future generations."
The Hill
Remember when we could have had Bernie? The Rifleman remembers.
Remember when we could have had Bernie? The Rifleman remembers.
But it was Her Turn to smash the Glass Ceiling!
Really says something that he is STILL fighting.
This mans tenacity and integrity is absolutely inspiring. Our country would be a lot better off if more politicians had his guts and commitment.
Every day since the election, Bernie makes headlines fighting for the right causes. Where has Hillary been? It blows my mind that American's didn't vote for Bernie in the primaries.
Every day since the election, Bernie makes headlines fighting for the right causes. Where has Hillary been? It blows my mind that American's didn't vote for Bernie in the primaries.
She can stay out. She's done enough damage.
I'm not convinced Bernie would have won, Socialist is a hard sell in America.
It blows my mind that American's didn't vote for Bernie in the primaries.
really? it didnt surprise me at all. the DNC had it rigged in hillarys favor from the start. it's honestly depressing. i feel like theres nothing that can be done because people who are way richer than me are running the show.
I'm glad the election finally gave Bernie the soapbox he deserved. His devotion to the cause is inspiring.
I'm not convinced Bernie would have won, Socialist is a hard sell in America.
He's a Democratic Socialist.
He's a Democratic Socialist.
He's not even that. No idea why he chooses to label as a socialist when he really isn't one. Seems like a bad PR move to me.
I'm not convinced Bernie would have won, Socialist is a hard sell in America.
If you told an American during the Cold War era that they had to choose in the future between a Russian-backed Fascist and a person being painted as a Socialist, they'd likely choose the latter each time.
He's not even that. No idea why he chooses to label as a socialist when he really isn't one. Seems like a bad PR move to me.
I wonder if it was him embracing a possible attack angle to neutralize the argument? If anything, he's centerist.
I'm not convinced Bernie would have won, Socialist is a hard sell in America.
He's not even a socialist, I still have no idea why he calls himself one. He would've hands down stomped Trump though, Clinton alienated the parts of the democratic party that supported Bernie by basically dismissing Sanders through most of the primary, Bernie wouldn't have had this fractured Democrat voter base to deal with this Bernie probably wouldn't have literally ignored the rust belt by not going there, this was probably Clinton's biggest mistake. Some Republicans hated Trump but hated Clinton even more for the numerous scandals she was in, Bernie had a much better shot at getting republican votes. Clinton always seemed to imply voting Trump made you racist and sexist, while Sanders always had a much more empathetic view on Trump supporters. And lasty, more Independents would've gone with Bernie. TL;DR Bernie wouldn't have had to deal with a divided Democratic Voter Base, he would actually be able to exploit a divided Republican voter base
I think the best scenario would have been a Clinton/Sanders ticket but obviously that never happened.
Is he actually right with that "millions" comment? Genuinely asking.
I think the best scenario would have been a Clinton/Sanders ticket but obviously that never happened.
I still don't get why they didn't do that. Was it pettiness? The smug presumption that they were going to win no matter what? The VP position is mostly ceremonial but selecting Sanders would've probably made Clinton more palatable to a lot of people... [editline]24th January 2017[/editline] Gotta' put a boring if reasonable party insider in instead though, right? Bleh.
He's a Democratic Socialist.
He's a social democrat, he's still a capitalist, just with safety nets and welfare.

Much like the Democratic presidential candidate.
I'm not convinced Bernie would have won, Socialist is a hard sell in America.
I'm of the thinking that Bernie would have won purely because he actually would have bothered to campaign, and he would have campaigned like a madman Trump didn't win because Trump had a strong campaign that attracted voters in droves, Trump won because Clinton had a terrible campaign that actively repelled and alienated voters when they could even be arsed to campaign. I don't think it can ever be overstated just how much of a wet paper towel Clinton's entire campaign was, but even with that uninspiring, alienating, smugly self-assured non campaign she still won the popular vote by millions

I hope we get more politicians with the honesty of Bernie Sanders.
If there's anything I can at least smile at in this country, it's Bernie. God bless that man.
I hope we get more politicians with the honesty of Bernie Sanders.
I hope we get more unicorns too.
Yeah this is a fair point.
No offense look at the crowds Bernie and Trump drew. No secret that Hillary had problems drawing in people and on a near consistent basis Bernie and Trump drew jampacked events.
I hope we get more politicians with the honesty of Bernie Sanders.
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has done a spectacular job in Minnesota. If he ran for office I wouldnt think twice about voting for him. http://www.ontheissues.org/Mark_Dayton.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Dayton
I think Hillary basically went into hiding because she realizes how much she fucked the country.
Really says something that he is STILL fighting.
I struggle to stomach political speeches usually but Sanders is frankly inspiring.
Every day since the election, Bernie makes headlines fighting for the right causes. Where has Hillary been? It blows my mind that American's didn't vote for Bernie in the primaries.
But, don't you remember that piece on rape he wrote? [/s]
