I see where he is going but it's still not enough to make me get a Wii-U, there really is just no pull from the games for the consoles that aren't a remake/rehash or a game already on the Wii that I can play. Getting a game early is great and all but if I have 0 people to play it with it kinda takes the wind out of it.
No a new mario, or updated SSBB, or WW:HD is not a system seller. Not to mention no online for SSBB
I would probably never buy a game if the digital release was 2 weeks prior to the physical one, especially when on the PS3 store new games are £50 and store bought are £40.
Kinda hope no one gets the idea to only sell games digitally as they'll just get away with selling them for more.
I can't understand the hype Wind Waker Wii U is getting. The HD is nice, as is the gameplay fixes, but I'm not a fan of what Nintendo has done to the art style with the bloom and subdued colors, and honestly, Wind Waker is the game that needs an HD update the least. This game isn't hard to find like ICO/ Shadow of the Colossus, wasn't spread across three different consoles like Kingdom Hearts 1.5HD, and it's art style means it has aged the best out of any game from that gen save maybe Okami. For $50, I can easily go find a Gamecube/controller/memory card + Wind Waker if I didn't have them already. As someone who doesn't own a Wii U why would a Gamecube re-release be the game to push me into getting the system?
Wii U is like every other Nintendo console since the Game Cube. Lots of Nintendo games, some downgraded ports and a bunch of shovelware. There isn't a point in getting a Wii U if there's only going to be a good game every 3+ months. Nintendo should have invested the money they made off the Wii and bought out a bunch of studios. Maybe we could get a new RARE come out of it.

Nintendo has already shown they can bring the sales to Steam Levels in both the 3DS and the Wii U eShops, giving consumers 50% to 75% off digital games, plus some games have been 5 to 10 dollars cheaper for buying them digitally on release.
The success of this move really depends if they keep this attitude up for sales and keep on making digital purchases more attractive, while not punishing consumers for not buying digital.
It is a very delicate balance, and we will have to wait and see if this long term plan actually plays out in Nintendo's favor.
I am not really sure where this game changer is.
Pros:
+2 weeks early
Cons:
-No returns
-No physical copy
-(this is more concerning for the WiiU) Hard drive space 8-32gb.
-You are subject to what ever hellish trials are required to move between consoles (consider how well Nintendo handles online content)

They are currently trying to unify all the Wii/3DS/DSi/Wii U accounts under the Nintendo Network at the moment.
There is suppose to be a huge patch coming late September and October that helps unify the 3DS and Wii U accounts even more.

The Wii U is extremely adaptable to external hard drives at the moment, and NoA has heavily encouraged using them when it comes to the Wii U.
He has a very good point about the second half. The only way these guys can afford to make content is through advertising. The only reason I have adblock is so I don't get bullshit popups that are completely intrusive and annoying.
Someone should make AdBlock software that targets the assholes that use stuff like that. I'd love to watch a 30 second advertisement if it meant RedLetterMedia could get some money.
