So nothing has changed.
Oh my god the faces looked like burn-victims.
Yeah, but to be honest after years of looking at things like this;

Give me the burn victims any day. At least they look like they have a little bit of a soul.

The Sole Survivor looks a little malnourished but I think Piper looks alright.
Way better than anything they did in the past.
The dialog wheel is gunning down this game's potential in a shallow grave.

Remember how Mass Effect has a 4 choice dialogue wheel?
Remember how like half the time the option on the left would open up a bunch of extra dialogue choices that allow you to investigate shit and hear some non-critical dialogue?
Yeah that's probably gonna be in Fallout 4.

Almost like they live in a nuclear wasteland
Fallout Shelter finally gets a decent sized update. Finally.
Oh my god the faces looked like burn-victims.
I see no burn victims here. Seriously, the player character has a crater face with stubble, and Piper's got a pretty smooth face. They look even better than the characters in Skyrim. They really look more "Real" than any other BethSoft game so far (but that's pretty much always the case, up until the next game comes out and makes the last one look like ass).
The video quality isn't the best, but you'll notice that the characters faces aren't covered in squares, either. Although, it seems like one problem Bethesda may never really solve is how weird the lip-syncing can get. If a character doesn't mouth a word correctly, they usually end up not mouthing a few words after that until the facial animations match up with another word further into the sentence.
I hate to be that guy but the graphics here look a bit..dated? Maybe it's just the lighting - everything else I've seen looks fine.
Still excited though.
Edit: Looking back I think the textures on Piper look a little plain.

i dont know about you, but if you put this side by side with FO3/NV or even Skyrim you will notice a huge improvement.
The lip sync looks so off, I mean grrrr teeth what.
It has massive improvements in the lighting department, you'll be able to jack your 8k texture mods/enb/whatevethefuck on it later anyway

Yet to be demonstrated, but we'll see.
My friend pointed out that all dialog wheel examples we've seen so far have been formulaic, with a neutral/positive/negative answer and a question. So worst case scenario we only get one piece of expository dialog per conversation, best case scenario the question option is replaced by another question when the first question is answered, and you have to ask in the order the game chooses for you. Still a much less robust system than previously.
I'm so excited about F4 but worried as well jeez this is killing me
Ooh finally, lootable enemies, I was wondering why that wasn't in the game
Update looks good!
those teeth good lord, the mouth movement is all lip
Fallout 4 stuff aside, its nice that they're still supporting fallout shelter. They really didin't have to considering its a fun free thing they made on the side.

bethesda has never been about graphics really, ever
even though morrowind looked "Amazing for its time" that's pretty much an anomaly of it's really good art-style that really holds well, as well as the engine actually being alright in its time
If you think about it it's actually a smarter idea. Since each dialog choice on the wheel corresponds to a specific emotional state (positive, negative, neutral, and quizzical), that forces Bethesda to write dialog more often that fits a specific character archetype.
Remember Skyrim? Remember how a lot of dialog choices in Skyrim were all INCREDIBLY neutral and had no emotional tone to them at all? If the system works to their advantage, this won't be the case in Fallout 4 because they'll have to write some form of binary or trinary emotional choices for each dialog choice, beyond shops and stuff of course.
So, you know, you'll be able to roleplay a specific kind of character more often than previous Beth games if all goes well.
I don't see how this is an issue at all. Most Skyrim or Fallout 3/NV dialog choices beyond shops, doctors, and services terminated at just 3 or 4 different choices, so it's hardly gimping anything.
I'm not sure how four choices of personality come out to more choices than when we weren't pigeon holed into four?
It sounds like it will just be the same shitty system Mass Effect used where you know the character you're playing so you just instinctively go for the same input each time.

We haven't seen any indication of that, and I wouldn't call Mass Effect a good dialogue system when it boiled down to just Paragon, Neutral, Renegade.

Yeah. People have been saying that since the first teaser trailer.
Hell, some people have been saying the game actually looks too good. Like everything we've seen so far is pre-rendered.
Personally, I think it looks fine, and I wasn't expecting much from Bethesda anyway. It's not like the game won't be modded later to look better anyway.
As for the faces, there will be mods for that as well. As well as nude mods if you're into that sort of thing.
The only thing there won't be a mod for is Bethesda's quest writing, which if it comes out bad this time, the whole focus on a voiced protagonist will only serve to highlight their weaknesses even more. I'm cautiously optimistic that the story will be better as a result of their decision to go all or nothing with a voiced protagonist, but it is Bethesda we're talking about. The last time they wrote a half decent quest line was for Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood.
Also, the dialog wheel bit does have me worried. Yes, Mass Effect had an option for more dialog, but it usually was for those "more information" or "humor" topics rather than any shades of grey. And it's still less effective than a scrollable list, as it presents you with less information and usually doesn't fully reflect what your character is going to say. The only pro that the wheel has is that it looks better on screen than a list does, and Bethesda has become the king recently of making very pretty menus with horrible functionality, so I'm not too convinced it was the right thing to do.
But, I'll just wait for the eventual mod from someone that goes through and actually makes a list UI.
People just love finding shit to complain about before it's even out.
At least in dialogue the world around you isn't frozen and you're not pulled in 2 inches from your conversation partner's face
Even if the facial animation isn't all there, the body movement sells dialogue a lot better. Sure is a step up from people standing ramrod stiff with brooms up their asses

Comparing a 2015 game to a 2008 game and saying "At least it doesn't look like that" kinda doesn't work as an argument
(I still think the game looks good; just, that's a bad argument)

People just love defending a game they've never played before it's out.

Absolutely disagree, NV gave you a shitload of choices most of the time, by my memory. I really don't want to be limited to polite guy/bland and neutral/hilarious asshole like Mass Effect, it made dialogue so dull.
I'm surprised that more people don't think Mass Effect's dialogue system is mediocre as hell.
i find it interesting how she looks to have unique animations, even if they're kinda stiff. makes me hopeful characters don't repeat anims too much.
