After the massive chart shock here in limey-land when a decent act actually WON a christmas number one, I have decided to create this thread to discuss the overthrow of 'popular' manufactured trash by deserving bands. If anyone would like to discuss a possible chart hijack in the near future, feel free and dont forget to alert us of any good bands which have sadly been neglected by the media in favour of the normal trash.
Rage Against The Machine isn't deserving. And what are you talking about, RATM were HUGE back in the 1990s/early 2000s, when nu-metal got popular.
Almost every good band has been neglected by the media you tard, i'm sorry but (incoming possible elitist comments please forgive me :v:) the vast majority of the public doesn't appreciate good music. Please if anyone gets what i mean and that i'm not looking down my nose, and knows a better wording for this kindly tell me it would be useful :downs:

Why can't the public embrace good music for what it is? How did todays big artists become so appreciated? Did someone pay the radio stations to play bad music until people became used to it? It's just so fucking stupid!

I see a song by the Who and I'm happy, then I see it's one song and it's "teenagewasteland.mp3" askjthawekthawdgjhfs
My friend was talking about some awesome metal song he knew from an older Guitar Hero game he once played. I identified it as power metal. Turned out to be Dragonforce. He also told me he liked Green Day and my heart sank. A different friend and I were talking about music in class today. We got onto the topic of metal. He likes Slipknot, Disturbed, and KoRn. In addition: Linkin Park. He admits to liking mainstream music presumably just because it's mainstream.
some dude in class the other day who is way into rise against and was talking about how awesome they are, while also talking shit about hiphop, and how it's all trash i was like :(
some dude in class the other day who is way into rise against and was talking about how awesome they are, while also talking shit about hiphop, and how it's all trash i was like :(
Yeah, I hate it when someone picks on a particular genre without knowing a damned thing about it. I used to be like that, but that's long over. A lot of this happens at my school though. You know, the whole "Dude, you listen to that? What the hell is wrong with you." or "You don't like x band? What's your problem?" I really wish they could learn to respect other tastes and have a more broad range of listening. Just opening my iTunes, I can see a range of music from hard rock and metal to Britpop and indie to more electronic music and even doom/sludge metal. Half of those bands I would get laughed at for listening to in school. Oh yeah, and a dose of irony here, that friend who likes Disturbed and KoRn called Oasis a 'shitty fake rock band' or something like that. Right, I've listened to his music and I don't have anything against him for listening to them, but damn, I can't help but to get a little angry.
That's high school dude High schoolers aren't technically people
I have a friend who has an incredibly skewed view of what metal is. His definition of Heavy Metal is "what you can headbang to", including Rammstein and early Metallica. /facepalm.
I have a friend who has an incredibly skewed view of what metal is. They are both heavy metal, or at least follow in the footsteps of heavy metal.

Early Metallica is Thrash Metal, Rammstein is Industrial Metal. He calls Motörhead Hard Blues or some shit.
All "metalheads" in my town except my brother and I listen to Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine and other bands like that. The most extreme band they listen to is Slipknot, which is sad. I try to show them some death metal but they immediately say no because they can't understand what the singer's saying. They don't even know English for fuck's sake. And because of this, they know me as that guy that likes listening to noise. Fucking RAGE.
And because of this, they know me as that guy that likes listening to noise. I hate people that say they listen to a certain genre such as "Rock" and it turns out to be Jonas Brothers. I also dislike music elitists, I like almost every genre but the hip-hop genre makes me rage because all the assholes I do not like listen to it and think my music is "scary." Tell me, what is so scary about Breaking Benjamin, A7X, Rise Against, In Flames, Goatwhore, Shadows Fall, Motley Crue etc.?

It's just not their thing. Maybe you should think the same way about their interests. You guys could be friends.
I hate the way Disney thinks that all of their actors can be singers .... was it the other way 'round?

People in my school who classify My Chemical Romance as 'emo', without listening to any song other than Welcome to the Black Parade frustrate me beyond belief. I wish they actually taught about different genres in music class other than, 'It's Rock, Pop or Metal'.
