My father wrecked a patrol car once by hitting a bus, bouncing off that into a guard rail, and then wrapping around a telephone pole. His last wreck in a patrol car was 14 years prior. His boss said its been 14 years since your last one, Not even going to suspend you. Well seeing how this officer had to be pulled out of his vehicle and then transported via ambulance, I guessing hes going to get more than a day off.

If you watch the video you can see the cop was not at fault. The motorized barrier was raised by whomever too early and it was about halfway up when he hit it.
it's actually the other way around
the barriers came up too late to stop the other car, the officer didn't have time to stop before realizing that the barriers were coming up
They started to raise as he was half the intersection away. He couldn't have stopped if he tried.
pop up barriers are raised by pressure sensors in the ground. Someone probably didnt disable them
That sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Because they werent raised when he was driving until he was passing through the intersection going 70 and triggered them.
