The survivors - believed to be from the Indian subcontinent and suffering from severe dehydration and hypothermia - are being treated at nearby hospitals. They were discovered after a freighter arrived from Zeebrugge, Belgium at about 06:00 BST and was being unloaded. Essex Police has launched a homicide investigation and officers are being assisted by their Belgian counterparts. Police Supt Trevor Roe said staff at the docks were alerted to the container by "screaming and banging" from inside. He said about 50 other containers on the freighter called the Norstream were being searched to make sure there were no other people inside. "This is a humanitarian issue and the welfare of these patients is a priority," Mr Roe added. It is not known where the container, one of 64 aboard the P&O vessel, originated.
Thankfully we live in a century where the survivors had the chance to be treated, now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
Thankfully we live in a century where the survivors had the chance to be treated, now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
what?
Thankfully we live in a century where the survivors had the chance to be treated, now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
øøhhh?
This wouldn't have happened if the situation was avoided.
Thankfully we live in a century where the survivors had the chance to be treated, now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
Are you saying we should have left them to die?
Are you saying we should have left them to die?
I think he's saying India should be more like UK.
I read this as 35 people were found dehydrated and frozen, literally, like in some kind of cryogenic storage.
This wouldn't have happened if the situation was avoided.
Things don't happen unless they do my eyes are finally open
This is like, just down the road from where I am. I heard it on the radio is morning at work and was like wtf.
Do you know what does it mean?
Thankfully we live in a century where the survivors had the chance to be treated, now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
Why is this post rated dumb? All he did was say "Thank goodness we have the tech to help them, I hope human trafficking stops some day"
Why is this post rated dumb? All he did was say "Thank goodness we have the tech to help them, I hope some day this type of shit wont happen"
The second line I think is easily interpreted as being an isolationist ideal; develop to the point where you don't need to deal with the rest of the world anymore.
The second line I think is easily interpreted as being an isolationist ideal; develop to the point where you don't need to deal with the rest of the world anymore.
Seems like it requires some extreme mental gymnastics to reach that interpretation.
Seems like it requires some extreme mental gymnastics to reach that interpretation.

now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
Develop to the point where you do not need to treat refugees. You would have to be pretty much isolated to be able to prevent refugees from ever arriving.
Seems like it requires some extreme mental gymnastics to reach that interpretation.
Or you know, someone came to that conclusion and then the next person to see the post saw the dumb rating and tried to figure out how it was dumb and came to the same conclusion without a third thought. Anyways I don't really see how his comment is dumb. Maybe because he said "needed"? As in human trafficking is somehow necessary? I dunno. Man I must be really bored to give this level analysis on a post someone probably gave .5 seconds of thought to.
Develop to the point where you do not need to treat refugees. You would have to be pretty much isolated to be able to prevent refugees from ever arriving.
I think he meant develop to a point where refugees don't exist because there's no reason to be forced out a country, that's idealistic but of course it'd be great to get to that point and maybe one day most of the world will. It's not a dumb thing to want to happen.
these poor people. jeez.
Thankfully we live in a century where the survivors had the chance to be treated, now if only we could develop to a state where this wouldn't be needed..
Smarked x1 Also this is pretty horrible, hopefully the children are fine :(
Why is this post rated dumb? All he did was say "Thank goodness we have the tech to help them, I hope human trafficking stops some day"
I don't get the second part. A state where what wouldn't be needed?
Things don't happen unless they do my eyes are finally open
Everything is okay until it's not
Everything is okay until it's not
people freeze if they are frozen
people freeze if they are frozen
People are dead if they have died. Also, I thought this thread was going to be about a bunch of corpses that somebody freeze-dried. Was relieved when most were still alive.
this whole thread is like jaden smith's twitter page, whoa
I don't get the second part. A state where what wouldn't be needed?

Now if only
"I hope"
we could develop
"the world will improve"
to a state
"to the point"
where this wouldn't be needed
"that there wouldn't be people half dead in shipping containers in the first place" Seems pretty to the point. I wish people would change their dumb rating to agree.
Every minute was more exciting than the next.
I don't get the second part. A state where what wouldn't be needed?
I interpreted state as meaning the condition of the world.
What happened with the first few replies and why is it so funny? It's like there was a short worldwide brainfart.
Why is this post rated dumb? All he did was say "Thank goodness we have the tech to help them, I hope human trafficking stops some day"
Because who needs to slow down and develop an opinion when you can.. ..and head straight off to the cat girls topic even tho' denying ever visiting it.
