You don't still play World of Warcraft do you? Well good, because Blizzard desperately wants you back, and to show their gratitude, they've launched the new Scroll of Resurrection. The only way to obtain this scroll at the moment is to have it sent from a friend in-game, just have them right-click your name and send it, with an optional personal message, to your character! Once you've received the scroll, you can rejoin. This is an excellent way to get old members back into things, hopefully this will increase WoW's install base in time for the upcoming expansion. Join us after the jump for the full list of things you'll receive after you return!
Upon your return to World of Warcraft you'll receive:
A character boost to level 80
Free upgrade to Cataclysm
Seven days of FREE game time
A FREE faction change to join the person that sent you the scroll.

dang...
Whats the point in boosting your level? Isn't leveling up part of the fun of the game?
no, it's all working up to the endgame content
It was fun while it lasted WoW, but it is time to lay it to rest. Put effort into a new game that will be as successful as this was.

Leveling and Questing was one of my most hated things in the game, I've only fully leveled a Priest and I'm not going back.
World of Warcraft is one of the only games that offers a shit-ton of end game content.
The level 80 thing is a nice bonus but what killed it for me was that i was unable to play with my friends.
It sounds like they are starting to realize that people play these games for their friends. they will transfer your character to your friends realm and faction, but later on what if you want to go to a server where a lot of your friends are at? Well you need to dish out 20 (25?) dollars to switch a server, than some more to switch a faction. I have recently picked up rift, though i haven't tested it, im pretty sure its free to switch to a different server, dont know about faction. So until blizzard figures this out there is no way im coming back without being able to play with my friends.

Hahahaha
Part of the fun? No. :(
Even in SWTOR I can't level without being bored off my ass, but that's mostly because everyone likes to play the newest MMO for five minutes then unsub or let their toons rot. I guess I'm just going to stop playing MMOs that charge since this shit happens to me every time. At least in GW2 it wouldn't be an issue since there wouldn't be that monthly burden.
The transfer thing is pretty useful.
The instant 80? I have my doubts. On the other hand, easier to get up to speed with your pals.
Blizzard must really be hurting if they're offering this.
F2P with microtransactions is the new monthly subscription, Blizzard :v:
"Remember the good times in WoW?"
Yeah I do. But why would I resubscribe for funny memories of WoW?
Thanks, but no thanks Blizzard
Say, would this work on an 85 character? A pal of mine wants me to return and move to his alliance realm and I've got a lvl 85 Blood Elf warrior I'd like to move. Would it work on him?

Doesn't mention any restrictions on the character level for transfer so why not.
i like how they revamped all of azeroth and this character level boost will mostly bypass all of them.
gj blizz.
While this is actually tempting, my heart belongs to Guild Wars 2.
Sorry WoW! I'll still have nostalgiaries whenever I look at you at least.
Only MMOs I've played where it was fun to play before the endgame stuff was Guild Wars and LotRO.
Both of those games managed to stay fun and interesting for me unlike WoW and others.
I didn't mind questing and levelling. What I minded was that I had barely sociable guilds, nobody to play with and the same quests in a different location with some text changes.
does level 80 boost mean double xp until level 80 or straight to level 80
because that would be a rather poor business decision to straight boost
Wow, this is just sad. Ever since Cataclysm, World of Warcraft has really been going downhill and this is almost, if not completely, hitting rock-bottom.
The differences between official WoW servers and private servers really are starting to blur.
lol I love it.
Dedicate yourself as a subscriber for a year and you get a horse with broken animations and Diablo 3.
Quit WoW and you get a free level 80, free realm transfer, free faction change, and free Cataclysm.
Keep in mind a faction change costs $30, a realm transfer costs $25, and Cataclysm costs $40.

I think it means you will be instantly raised to level 80
oh boy they're really trying to keep the life support online
You know, starting out at level 80 isn't all it's cracked up to be. I did that once as a Shaman on a private server, I was so fucking overwhelmed with all the different spells and abilities. It's much better to go from 1-80 naturally so you can ease into a more advanced and difficult role to be a much more effective player.
I hear the chants about wow being dead and dying or being on last thread, I think people keep forgetting that it still is largest subsriber based MMO with quite a steady lead in numbers compared to second.

lol at the SWTOR candy cane
Oh, the good old days of WoW, those were such fun times. I'm really saddened it went for shit when WOTLK came out. It doesn't have nearly the same feel as it used to.
better idea blizzard:
LOWER THE FUCKING COST OF SERVER TRANSFERS AND SHUT DOWN SOME OF THE PATHETICALLY LOW-POP SERVERS
I have so many nostalgic memories with WoW, but i really do not have the time now to put into such a game. Even with this level 80 boost i would never be able to put in enough time to get good gear.etc...
Sad times.
So uhh.. Do us continuing players who HATE leveling get one too? I only have one level 85 because I seriously can't stand it.
